Dear friends ,

I'm new to Equity investment. Thanks for this forum, which I have read the post from page 1 to date🙏. I started my equity journey with cowrywise from this forum . So far it's been a good experience compared to my money market investment 😜. Some days, it's all smiles with green 💚 other other days it's heart ache🔴🙃. But I love the thrill.

I have both the individual Equity fund and the managed Equity fund investments. But I notice my individual picks are doing better than the managed equity funds . I wonder why 🤔

Moderators of this Equity forum . I appreciate your help 🙏🥰.

Individual stocks is/are the real deal that makes more money because you are essentially betting it would go up then you invest into it. Viola!!!, it eventually goes up by some percent usually greater than the percentage managed fund do.

For managed Funds (Equity mutual funds)— you hedging your bet on derivatives mode, meaning you not sure which stock will do well but f_ck it anyway, I will buy all good stocks to be put together in one basket. That's what managers do when they help you manage your fund, Now here is where it gets crazy — you are to pay that fund manager a fee whether you make gain or loss. Yep, that's right. So when you put all these into consideration. Your individual stock pick will always beat derivatives like equity fund but If you play the long game with derivatives, you will beat the market.

In conclusion: You earn more picking individual stocks than Equity mutual funds but picking the right stock is the challenging part, if it was easy, no one would have to buy equity fund anyways.

I will try it with my gains from MMF I will invest 5m from next month in equity let's see how it will grow by December 🙂
I think the above is the cause of your frustration. Seems u didn't wait till next month anymore & invested in equity because the market was bubbling & u have lost some money, because most of the fund managers have been recording consistent loss recently. So u are putting the frustration on equitym for promoting equity. We have all been there, when I invested in some cryptto projects last year that failed, I wasn't happy with the promoters, but I'm very use to losses, not everyone know how to manage loss. Reason equity is not for everyone.

Equitym made equity look very easy. Some persons may start acting illogical just like u are doing now when they begin to record loss. I had to take time to check your comments to see if u made any comment suggesting investing in equity & I saw this post. Because ur constant attack on equitym & derailing of this thread seems to be motivated from loss. Your attacks on equitym started after u made this comment & the equity market has not been doing good since then...Now I get it

My personal experience. I invested 10m in MMF in Jan 4, till date I have only 10.5m. I invested 12.5m in TB at 17% in Jan 15 for a year to get 2.3m after 10% WHT. I invested 10m in stocks Jan 19, till date I have 10.7m due to drags from Fidelity&Nigerian Breweries. I invested 10.2m in GT Equity in Feb 2, till date I have 12.3m. I invested 5m in UCAP Equity in Feb 2 but had to liquidate a month later due to slow growth 5.5m. So most of us already started conservative, tested equities, and observed it outperformance others, that’s why I recently positioned 5m in Zedcrest and paramount because come year end EQUITY IS STILL KING.

Don't let newbie fall prey tell them the implications involved in equity so that they can decide

To my newbie, the ball is in your court: Choose fixed income if you want safety and steady income.

Choose equity if you want growth and can handle ups and downs.

However any investment you are involve in should have a return greater than inflation rate.
Re: Equity Investment. by princezzz(f): 6:00pm On Apr 02
Thank you , Equity will always be king, If you can bear the risk, no lele,as returns are not guaranteed.
10m in MMF gives you at most 140k as interest..
3m in Equity last month which was even mostly red sef, gave as much as that.
@Creditalert, everyone here who must have read this thread from page 1 to the last 99 knows the risk. Stop constituting a nuisance on this thread, and face your MMF. How childish can you be?? Because you feel we are all anonymous??
We have never come complaining to you, so whats with the self esteem/self hate issues??

I have made more in equity than i have lost and i am aware of the risk, nobody is stupid here.

I probably won't engage you anymore, because doing that would make it seem like you have any relevance to this thread, when you are actually nothing in the grand scheme of things.
I would advise others to disengage, because replying you does nothing
I want to believe its just fear and ignorance on your part, you will be fine.

I topped up my gt money market funds on March 31st. Till today, the funds are yet to reflect in my gt money market account. Has anyone experienced this sort of delays with gt moneymarket? If yes, how did you resolve it?

Appreciate the responses.

The month that falls in end of any quarter usually gets slow top up. Top up are temporarily suspended for some fund managers because of quarter ending computation, something like that. Maybe u should send them a mail. But I am sure it will reflect by next week Monday. My top up on paramount I did on 31st is yet to reflect too for the same reason.
