In Nigeria of today, below are the poorest and most disrespected professions:

1.) Nigerian military personnel (soldiers)

2.) Private school teachers

3.) Bank contract staffs, especially marketers

4.) Nigerian Police

5.) PHCN workers
.. especially police and military men that really sacrifice and risks their lifes for the country and Nigerians but they are not well paid

While their bosses are embezzling billions of Naira, their boys at the frontline are suffering.

There was a time the soldiers posted to Maiduguri complained bitterly of hunger. Imagine fighting terrorists on an empty stomach.

how is it fake? That government workers still haven't been paid as of today 03/04/2026? That he was on combat duties for 10months? That one of his twin babies died? Or that he had just N4,500 left on him? Tell us, which do you find fake?
Baba calm down.

Read the story again. It was not as if he was not paid in 10 months while he was on the frontline but that this month's salary was delayed till at least the 2nd day of April.

Soldiers are always paid as at when due like every other government workers.

Apart from his salary, they get paid other allowances while on the frontline.

I asked him why he didn’t leave earlier than he left. He replied that he waited with the hope that salaries will be paid, since today is second, but it wasn’t, unfortunately. How then do you intend to make it, I asked him. He showed me all the money he had on him –4,500 which wasn’t even enough to get him to his destination.

My cousin took a loan, resigned from the army and ran to the uk with her husband and later cameback for her boys.. I saw pictures of her experiences in the bush and my, they're no different from these attackers because its kill or be killed. Her payslip was below 80k. That was before they stopped women soldiers from combat in 2015 or so. 74k for someone with ak47, grenades and powerful weapons? What a country..
Their salary has been increased to 300k

1. They don't read they only flow with the Captions/headlines.
2. The few that read through lacks comprehension.
3. Majority just want to criticise for criticism sake.

He never said he was owed 10 months but rather the past month salary didn't hit his account till the 2nd of April.

I asked him why he didn’t leave earlier than he left. He replied that he waited with the hope that salaries will be paid, since today is second, but it wasn’t, unfortunately. Almost all the Big plazas and hotel in Kubwa Abuja are owned by Military or police officers.

Estates and co by civil servants.

Politicians DO NOT hide their wealth in Abuja.

Highest they'd build is one or two.

I can give you names and receipts.

A soldier needing a lift will only need to wear his uniform and stand on the road , no need begging anyone.

seems you misunderstood me. I actually comprehended the narrative exactly as intended. The person who said it was a fake story, I simply asked that he tells why he says so. I went ahead to ask if the soldier had received his March, 2026 salary as of today 03/04/2026. I was not making reference to 10 months salary as being owed.

Op you better come and address this your story well.
For those that didn't understand.
The soldier said he hasn't been home since over 10 months. But the unpaid salary he's expecting is for last month. Not unpaid for 10 months
Unfortunately, Nigerians can't read and understand.

I want to somehow believe soldiers have bot been paid for last month too (march).

I've been getting lots of calls from some of them from different brigades between yesterday and today. I have not been picking. Obviously they wan plea for small change to use hold belle.

Are you minding the mohron.. . How many people will even wait.

Best way he can see a free ride is if his fellow colleague on duty at a checkpoint solicits for help on his behalf. That's faster and succes rate is about 90%

They owe soldier salary for months?
That is totally absurd and wicked.

Can anyone confirm this?

Doctors I know, but I always heard soldiers are paid promptly and it is only his last salary delayed. Someone has confirmed this to me in my mention. Maybe there is a problem with their payment system.
No. Just one month's salary delay of two days. But that's too much. They ought to be paying them between 26th and 30th. 10 months apply to the period he hasn't been able to see his twins.
