Most of the Fintechs are doing well with this already.
The point is they can now do more the way they intended since they will no longer have to go through the traditional banks whose digital footprints are not as firm as the fintechs'. The traditional banks will lose the shave offs they make doing corridor or pass through business with the fintechs.

The best is yet to come, we still need more banks to grow our SME.

Deactiveate you sms alert, activate email. I can't remeber when last GTBank charge me for anything, instead, they gives me money.
I totally disagree with you.

Despite deactivating sms alert, yet they still come up with so many annoying charges.

The era where every serious digital payment must pass through big commercial banks is slowly ending.

Palmpay and Opay gave them consumer headaches.
Moniepoint shook SME and POS banking.
Now Flutterwave has arrived with the bigger punch.

Once businesses can receive payments, hold balances, run payroll, issue cards, and settle faster inside one fintech ecosystem, a lot of “tech money” may no longer need to touch traditional banks the same way.

The banks may not disappear, but they risk becoming what power companies are to homes: essential, yet invisible infrastructure.

The future money layer may no longer belong to the biggest banks, but to the platforms people interact with every day.
There's more to banking than what Flutterwave, Opay, Moniepoint, Kuda, PalmPay etc are currently doing.

Then you got a lot of work to do on your account. my last sms alert was when i was using nokia phone. the moment i moved to Blackberry, i stopped sms alert till date. GTBank gives me money, not taken from me. I only pay for ATM card, everything else is FREE!!!!!!

Nothing will happen talking about those saying they will rival commercial banks.

Remember, they are coming into an already over populated, over saturated market.
I doubt that, when opay arrive a lot of individuals adop their system, because of the competition edge and solutions they provide. I do have commercial bank, but most of my transactions pass through the likes of opay, palmpay and moniepoint. So its a function of what they offer, if it's good, people will find a way to use them, at a very high rate for that matter.

This is huge.

Lots of banks need to adopt a payment system or get ready yo get crushed.
Just like Fintech especially Opay and Palmpay caused banks to close down several branches last year.

It's about to get more interesting.

Having a license for banking is not what matters most, but having the infrastructure for long term banking beyond deposits and withdrawals.

I've had a beautiful experience with GTB for decades. Deactivate SMS, use email. They also have a COT free current account albeit with a minimum balance, and some terms and conditions, which you can manage effectively.

Every day immediately after 10pm, I'll start getting 3-7 debit of, 50,100,200 and some days N500 charges of stamp duties and some smaller unnamed charges of N25-N50

New Era? Lol

What exactly are they bringing that isn't already in existence?

The Nigerian banking industry is fully mature and over saturated already.

What we need are sound policies that would further support the sector and help mobilize capital to other areas of the economy.
You must be living in stone age
Fully saturated and mature with what services?
Tell me what core banking services are Nigerian banks giving

I miss their barter card. The interesting thing about them for me is the ease to set up a support link just like paypal.
