Akinwale made this revelation while he appeared as a guest on a radio programme on 101.7 YES FM, Ibadan, Oyo State, while alleging that Obi received campaign funds from Utomi, whom he described as Tinubu's "son."

The LP aspirant, who spoke in Yoruba language, said "In the buildup to the 2023 elections, Obi who had purchased the nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), suddenly announced his exit from the party.

"Initially, Pat Utomi had secured the LP's presidential ticket, but when Peter Obi said he resigned from the PDP and joined the LP. Bola Tinubu, a master political strategist, quickly told Utomi, that everyone knows to be his son to step down for Obi.

"The “president-elect” saw in Obi's presidential bid, a good chance to reduce the winning chances of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

"What Peter Obi didn't know is much more that what he knows, he started collecting campaign funds from Utomi, while Tinubu was giving the money to Utomi.

"This went on until Obi's presidential campaign got to a stage it went beyond target. Obi was used without him knowing," Akinwale said after announcing his departure from the party.

Obi defected to the LP after resigning his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and also withdrawing from the presidential race under the party.

The former governor consequently joined the race for the party’s presidential ticket, while Professor Pat Utomi, in June 2022 stepped down for him to emerge as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, unopposed in Asaba, Delta State.

It feels like the opposition in Nigeria are controlled opposition and not true ones. Though they are thieves, they often love to leave a loophole in any opposition party they go to that will cause internal issues. If Mr Nafiu said he has not resigned and the documents were forged then ADC should do an internal investigation among themselves. This is the downside of hijacking existing parties, you can not expect everyone to surrender what they have been building. The reason Tinubu APC feels like a one party system is because the opposition he is facing are the worst opposition in Nigeria history. The most disorganized, the most selfish driven, the most confused. They act like they are controlled opposition meant to fool the public. You can't tell me with amount of resources and influence the opposition has they can't create a new party from scratch built on their own principles. ADC was greatly unknown before they went in, the time they used buying people out should have been allocated to setting something new without any resistance.

Nigerians should just accept this people in top leadership positions are all the same and should be all removed if we are to go forward. Let's try people with no ties to the current pool of leaders and political parties we have. Instead recycling the same set of people who once dined and drink together. People who will insult themselves today and praise themselves tomorrow. It's clear insults is like friendly banters among themselves and not taken as serious criticism.

If he said the former national chairman declared he should take over , then let him provide theevidence . A video of him saying the above eill suffice. However if he did not officially resign too , then the case should be decided in court .

Atiku and Obi might , however remotely, win the elections but Nigerians should brace for another useless set of spineless leaders . If this issue has been there since last year august/September and they could not sort it out fast, it highlights the reasons they are always jumping from one party to another. Lack of leadership skills.

I dont like tinubu . I dont think I will ever vote for him but he is much better than this clueless bunch

Stop writing trash! In Mr Nafiu's statement, he said he attended a meeting where they were to welcome new members into the party. He did not say he attended a meeting where Mr Mark was to be made chairman of the party.
