They are not more efficient but cheaper. If you had the funds and weresl asked to pick between American and Russian/Chinese products, which would you choose? A whole lot of things goes into making a product cheaper. If you cut down on quality...you definitely will end up with a cheaper product. Same product, if made in Nigeria will be much cheaper than when produced in the USA. Cost of labor, quality, cost of raw materials, government regulations, taxes, etc. all contribute to the cost of the final product. Humphrey1111: |

Arostar2023: They are more efficient. They aren't built for profit like greedy American capitalists. Russian equipments lasts long and sometimes works even better than American ones, if you've ever used one you won't be saying this. |

UrPapa: Starlink has 6000. And is just 500km in earth's orbit. Bureau 1440 satellites are 800km in the earths orbit. The higher the distance the broader the coverage. 1500 Bureau 1440 satellites will cover same area as 6000 Starlink satellite. By the way, Starlink satellites are temporary and they fall off after a while.

lightwind:Russia lies a lot (like Mr Kaliningrad lies a lot), so we can't know yet if it's working or not. That said, the Russians are very good at building things. Unfortunately for them, many of the top engineers have left the country, but I guess they can still do their best with what they have left. Back in the Soviet era, engineers were treated very well such that the smartest kids typically aspired to become engineers. That helped them foster a culture of excellent engineering. Russia is a different matter though – some of the old culture is still there, but the corruption and dysfunction of Putin's Russia is a major block to excellence in anything. Just look at their military. |

Humphrey1111:Yet, at most times, they wait for the U.S. to make a discovery/attempt and then try to copy and do the same. Most times, these 2 countries lack innovation. |

DaGC:You're correct. The Chinese just copy. The Russians can be innovative, but like the man said, they don't have the kind of money it takes. Plus the corruption and dysfunction that ensure that budgeted funds aren't used judiciously. |
