The Attack At The Gate Of Unijos: What Has Happened To The Men In Nigeria? by Mrchippychappy(op): 9:52am On Apr 04
Historically, Nigerians have been known to be people who stand up in the face of adversity, you look at the resistance and wars the British colonists had against Igbos, You look at the war between the British and the Benin empire, Oyo empire fighting and defeating Fulani jihadists, so many times Nigerian men have fought back against foreign ideas and beliefs.

Back in the 1960s, men on both sides , the federal troops and the Biafran soldiers went to war. They knew exactly what could happen to them, they knew what was at stake, they knew the consequences but they still chose to fight for what they stood for and they did so for years, fighting for their ideological beliefs.

What happened to that kind of strong belief and courage these days?

Now, when Fulani militants attack a community, everybody ,men and women, just pack up and runs away. This is happening from Kaduna to Taraba, Benue to Kogi, down to Kwara, and even as far as Osun and Ekiti. Not long ago, I passed through the Idiroko-Jeregbe route to Benin Republic and saw a whole crowd of people from the Yewa area fleeing across the border to hide there.

Have we really lost the ability to defend ourselves? In Nigeria today, is the only thing men are useful for just bedroom matters?

What has happened to Nigerian men? I watched a video of a young boy in Jos being hacked with machetes by three Fulani attackers, right in front of the University of Jos. Nobody helped him. Truck drivers, keke riders, Okada men, traders, and even fellow students just stood there watching. Some even brought out their phones to record it.

What has happened to the men in this country?

We can’t keep hiding behind the excuse that the federal government and the army are not protecting us, even though that’s supposed to be their job. But when the government fails completely and refuses to secure people’s lives, what then? Do we just sit there like helpless chickens waiting to be slaughtered?

A lot of people claim to be Christians, but the same Bible says, 1 Timothy 5:8, that any man who cannot provide for his family is worse than an unbeliever. And “providing” doesn’t just mean food and money, it includes good health, good living, proper education, and security. Protection is part of provision. That is why politicians campaign with words like we would provide good health, good electricity , good education, security. In case you are just finding out now, SECURITY IS PROVISION! Failing to provide security for your loved ones as a Christian makes you a bad Christian. Know that and know peace.

It’s really embarrassing when you talk to people from other countries, even Oyibo people (people wey like to dey form pacifist) and after listening to all our complaints, they ask: “So why can’t the men arm themselves and protect their own communities? Are the men that weak?”
That question is honestly disgraceful to hear.

As we celebrate Easter, Reflect on this and understand that your lives have been redeemed by Christ. There is no need to fold your hands and sacrifice yourselves all in the name of being peaceful. The ultimate price has already been paid for you. Go read 1 Timothy 5:8.

Happy Easter.

This is not an ethnic clash where pple chase each other with clubs and cutlass….bokoharam thats attacking you is armed with the latest FN SCAR, SIG 550, HK416, Kalashnikov rifles that shoots 200 rounds in less than a minute and even RPGs

This is not the united state where every one can carry a gun… but yeah!! Lets go ahead and blame the everyday non-combatant victims for not being able to defend themselves against superior assault….

Bro, I hate this defeatist mentality. History is filled with actual historical accounts of the under dog putting up a fight and crushing tyrants. There are many of those accounts in Nigerias history alone. There is no need for Nigerian men to just sit there as their wives and children are slaughtered by this islamists. Our men are getting weaker by the day and we are normalizing cowardice and giving up before even going to war, At this point, the average Nigerian man has become so weak that even a prank letter written in Hausa ands sent to any community would make the men all run away. This IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Pray never to be on the other side of a pointed AK 47, reality will dawn on you and you'll see that what you call "call to manliness" is just idealism in the safety of your home.

Nonetheless, we need to demand for either the right to protect ourselves, or for government to justify their existence by protecting us.

Another reason that furthers my point, the Fulani who were cutting that innocent teenager at the gates of UniJos, they only had machetes, and not all those advanced weapons you just mentioned, yet no Nigerian man could summon the courage to stop them. The actions of those men speaks volumes and before you say, oh the boy was a stranger, EVERYONE is a stranger to someone and a relative to someone else, Today, It might be a stranger being left to die at the hands of Fulani Islamic terrorists, tomorrow? Hmmm...Let's all pray for grace while also being proactive and responsible for fighting back. It would only get worse if nothing is done.

I understand where you are coming from but lets be honest, the Nigerian Government would NEVER give this, go and listen to Theophilus Danjuma's message on the characters that have been active in the Nigerian government since 2011 and you would understand the challenge ahead. Besides, quick question, if you demand for the right to protect yourselves for the 120th time and the Government says no, then what? fold your hands and put the lives of your family in a show glass and wait for Fulani Islamic terrorists to come and select them like akara and yam?

We're living in a civilized society. When we're ready to put tribalism and religious-bias away and DEMAND OUR RIGHT FROM Government, the government will answer with fear and trembling.

There's nothing any government fears more than a united people demanding in the same voice - that's why they are vested in sowing discord among us.

My brother I totally understand your points and they are valid. This is the same reason we all choose to japa instead of uniting to put up a fight against bad governance just like the countries we are running to did times back.

What stopped the passersby to help that unfortunate boy being lynched in broad daylight? Couldn't 2 or 3 men come together to help?

The men of today are defeated, scared and cowards.

So we can't meet our wealthy individuals and leaders to help us buy weapons with which to use and confront these murderous Fulani terrorists?

We keep running, running to our deaths. Shame

That your first line is a very useless prayer. AK-47 is already pointing towards every single person in this country, and the sooner we wake up to this reality and really face how to defeat this Fulani/bandit monster, the better for us.

That's the reality MANY NIGERIANS would never admit, until it is too late

Bro you're supposed to be arrested, prosecuted and hanged for trying to encourage genocide.
You're probably trying this nonsense from one IDP camp in the northwest.

Do you know the meaning of PANIC?

Your legs will fail, and they will wobble as you walk or try to run. Your head will be in many places, thinking a thousand things, while you prioritize surviving.

May God protect us.

But there is strength in numbers. The reasons for dwindling ability to stand up and resist evil are many. Should you stand to risk your life, you may not be supported by anyone. The patriotic spirit has long been dead. Then there is the "conclusive mentality" we generally have as a people.

As of today, more than 60% of the country has moved on from the Jos incident, and by Sunday, only those directly affected and their circle will remember.

So, if some of the dead were defending themselves when they lost their lives, it will be all for nothing coz neither the people they fought for, nor the government will do anything to ensure the perpetrators face justice.

Do you know that if we as a nation could unite, we could remove all bad leaders in a few months through the legal means provided by the Constitution? But it will never happen because of the stomach infrastructure.

Lastly, there is no wisdom in bringing a cutlass to a gun and bomb fight.

So whats the way forward? Pray Nigeria doesn't happen to you. If you can, don't reside in troubled areas. Avoid trouble and stay alert.

You do realize Maraba was one of those areas that hardly experienced any trouble, right? Please go and check Maraba today, same thing for Osun state and Kwara state. There is no peaceful area my brother. DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Brother, no man has the monopoly of violence. Better to be the "off-er" than the "off-ee". We can either watch and cry to the compromised international Liberal media or we can do what has to be done. Even animals protect their offsprings, why should fathers run away and abandon their wives and children to Islamic terrorists?

Hope you ain't amongst those that laughed at Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB, but is now looking for partners to help you tame a beast that was destined to devour you, because of your complicity and wickedness during the biafran war till today. Go and look for Gowon, and tell him to wear his uniform. Once a General always a General.

Prevention is better than cure.
Attack those terrorists and watch the Nigerian military focus on you.
The tribes that mocked Mazi kanu and ESN are at the receiving end.

Nigerians should continue empowering their oppressors and wailing

I understand your point unfortunately those killers were Christians not Fulani, and the person they attempted to killed is Muslim.

May be like to sound the name Fulani

People like will end up setting this country on fire without anything to achieve at the of the day...

@Ruby2much is a Christian ✝ and she replays someone like you...

"Are you aware that the victim is Muslim and not the killers??"...

We are in the era of me and my family.
If their is a gunshot in the street, my wife will hold me down that it's not our business even if I can help.
So it's a matter of every man for himself
