He's right. Democracy can only thrive where there's law and order. We're not practising Democracy in Nigeria. Imagine the military in power. Both the terrorists and their spinsors would have long forgotten they once lived today, including their founder who's a key politician in the apc government
so which system is better? Being a dictator abi? Just like the Cameroon government or central African Republic or equatorial Guinea abi. 😂 Smh. Africans too mumu

Well, I'm sure his teeming supporters all over the continent will hail this as another great wise proclamation from the great man.

Totally agree with traore here 100%
Looking forward to Burkina's own unique leadership system.
I said it. There are people who will hail him for this.

Are we really practicing democracy in Africa? Is there separation of powers? Is rules of laws observed. Answer those questions with a clear conscience

The ones practicing Democracy what is the outcome? Rwanda is another good example of a country that don’t practice the so called democracy but still doing well as a country.

They will come with the camouflage of populist ideas but before you know it they will begin showing their true colours suppressing dissenting views and oppositions to prolong their hold on power.

Keep in mind that China is a one party state. Yet, look at what they managed to achieve.

Their isn't any. Its' a dictatorship dressed as a democracy where different sets of the elite can take turns stealing oil money. It's a dictatorship of the rich/elite.

Democracy is not the problem but the institutions sustaining it & the people practicing it. Because of poverty, politics in some African countries including Nigeria is monitized. The ethno-religious sentiments worsens the situation.
Autocracy & military dictatorship is not a solution. It's usually breeds discontent & revolutionary ideas. At the end of the day, it may result in civil crises or wars.

find me one Malian citizen here that will tell you they are fine with his leadership or it is the rubbish news some people are peddling online for you.if you know how freedom of citizens and press has been suppressed in Mali you won’t be saying nonsense.
to hell with your so called freedom of citizens and press.. as long as the citizens are well taken care of, enjoying the collective wealth of their nation and living in safety.. they will be fine.

Nigeria that's practicing useless democracy for many years, what have the citizens enjoyed? Poverty and constant killings.

Africans don't need democracy.
Re: Captain Ibrahim Traoré Says Burkina Faso Must 'forget' About Democracy by Ajsmart(m): 4:28pm On Apr 04
It if works for him and his country then who are we to disagree? Democracy as practised in African nations and indeed the U.S has proved over and over that as long as politicians are in charge, corruption and blood shed trails behind.
Re: Captain Ibrahim Traoré Says Burkina Faso Must 'forget' About Democracy by CaseSensitive(m): 4:30pm On Apr 04
I agree with him, democracy is NOT for Africa. Vietnam, Singapore, China knows better. Democracy is the sure fire way for Africa's regression.

so you prefer if Nigeria has a leader with absolute power? A leader that can kill anyone and no one questions him. Right? Do you need a dictator before you can develop as a country? Is democracy the reason why African leaders cannot take good care of their people? You see say you are not making sense

This is very apt, a trillion Naira to be spent on election when all opposition is being stifled, this democracy is a scam. 93 years old Paul Biya of Cameroon who has ruled for 46 years and kept that country in poverty is a Democrat while Gaddafi who turned Libya into the most prosperous country in Africa was a dictator

Democracy in West Africa and Sahel region is the worst form of government. If what is being practiced in Nigeria is "democracy", then that word should be erased from the dictionary. Once you educate a Nigerian, s/he starts using words s/he doesn't understand. That's how I view "democracy" in Nigeria.

This is how they always start.

Hijack power with khaki then 50 years later, he would have transitioned to a lifetime civilian president.
to leave power later go be wahala

All these 90 years old african rulers started like him
Especially that Ugandan leader, since 1986

That is the beginning of the end of everything, very soon, it will either become an inheritance or bloodbath among the military.

If that leader actually worked to develop the country and build industry, yes. Also most "dictatorships" are not run by a single person. China is run by the CPC, Russia is run by the united Russia party, The USSR by the politburo. Likewise for the AES states. No leader can just snap their fingers and disappear people without approval from these institutions. They don't have supreme power.

Democracy isn't the reason why we have bad leadership. The reason is a structural problem that needs to be uprooted and it's unlikely a democracy can produce such without that movement being co opted or destroyed.

If a military "dictator" uproots the rot, then I'm fine with it.

Military rule is not the best way either
But in the case of Nigeria, the military regime were far more better than the civilian rule that we have now. At least the military regime were able to curb insecurity to it barest minimum and never imposed a sudden hardship on the people in the name of propaganda reforms or change that is not happening.

At least security of life and properties is the best thing any government in the world can give to his people especially the helpless common citizens. But over here in Nigeria, security of life and properties has become a joke since the politicians took over government in the name of democracy which even they the politicians are not practicing.

Sometimes it's as if the absence of the military rule in African countries has given room for the politicians to destroy their countries in the name of democracy.

Just look at the way Tinubu handles the insurgency in Nigeria. He has refused to take on the terrorists head long so as not to offend the north, in exchange for their votes to remain in power. Would the military rule allow terrorism to so flourish in Nigeria?

All that you stated are facts that can never be erased, I wish I could like your comment more than I trillion times, I wish. You just said It as It Is 💯%

You stated it as it seem 100% raw fact.
