Akalia:When you give a loaded AK 47 to a monkey what do you think it would do it the gun? Sadly this is that case of Africa and democracy as system of Government. Nothing is wrong with democracy, the problem is that we don't understand what we are practicing. |

If America is their model of democracy then democracy breads dishonest and dishonourable citizens and not suitable for any country really. BlackViper: |

Akalia:Can't work because there are too many kings. Democracy is best practice in a one language country. Where one common interest is same. In Africa, we have too many interests. |

sparko1:I understand your perception and what you said is the truth also... Two truth can co-exist Another truth is that democracy can never work for a developing country... They hv to first figure out a system that can work for them after a level of development they can go back to democracy. For Nigeria, what has worked for us previously was regional form of government. China redesign their democracy, that is why they could get out of poverty. Democracy Politicians are not a set of people that can take a country out of poverty quickly... Military leadership has it own consequences but if he can hold it for 5 years, build a structure, build a stable constitution, quality infrastructure development, cut western influence, build industries. That will be great |

Wrong story. He was ready to conduct the new election but the citizens all protested against it and begged him to extent his tenure.. Burkina is one of the fast developing African Country as we speak. Indeed, some democratic systems are more dangerous than military rule and Nigeria is an example. Would there be any bandit kidnapping or.terrorrizing suppose abacha eas still in power ? |

HardMirror:If you could find my comment so difficult to understand, what more can I say? Smh. If this is what we practice is what you understand as democracy, where the INEC boss wa compelled to upturn the will of the people and the same man was compensated with an ambassadorial position, then you, understand nothing |

funsho75:You mentioned China, but you don't really understand what is going on in China, the punishment for corruption and crime are not jail terms, death is usually the fastest option. Democracy is the safest for Africa, looking for something in between is what cost Nigeria the civil war, lots of goodwill, the major cause of tribal sentiments up until this moment. You can complain about the present government but let me ask you, as an intelligent person, what will you do differently if given a chance. Just list it. |

just2endowed:NOW WE SEE COMMON SENSE. In a multi-religious, multi-ethnic country, you can't just COPY western democracy like a mumu. In France everybody speaks French. Same as Germany, UK, Australia, Canada, Italy, etc. They are all each of one TRIBE. ONE RELIGION. So even before election day, everybody knows who will win. So why bother rigging when everyone is on the same page? To now copy that system unquestioningly and apply it in multicultural and multireligious African countries is just asking for trouble and for dysfunctional administration. Because you are expecting Africans to vote as if they are in France or Germany or Canada, with no ethnic or religious considerations attached to their voting. ASKING THEM TO PRETEND THEY ARE OYINBO. That's asking for dysfunction. AND THEN WHEN IT DOESN;T WORK, YOU SAY IT'S ''BECAUSE AFRICANS ARE EVIL AND CORRUPT''. There's nothing wrong with AFRICANS. You don't hand a man a shoe with a useless size and ask why he walks with K leg. SO IBRAHIM TRAORE IS RIGHT. He is not saying he wants to be a permanent military dictator. He is saying, ''we need to develop a WORKABLE SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT IN BURKINA FASO. SO LET US GATHER, SIT DOWN AND DISCUSS.'' Which is EXACTLY the same thing we need to do in Nigeria and Africa. |

njokuuche77:Afterall UAE, Quarter, Bahrain, China etc are being ruled by same person. Not the type of government but the quality of the leader. One good patriotic leader or even a benevolent dictator is better than a thousand Nigerian Democrats and democratic process in the last 15 years. |

erniok:That's Libya. B. Faso is a hellhole even under military. At least with democratic leaders, you can replace them before or at the end of their tenure. You're stuck with a military leader for as long as he's alive or toppled. |

sparko1:I am one one of the advocate for the China to fight corruption... Anybody that take money that is supposed to be use for road, hospitals, schools security etc and convert to personal use. That person is worse that Boko boys, so many hv died because of corruption So, maximum punishment is best for development. If all federal allocations goes to proper use, we will be a better state. Tribal sentiment has nothing to do with military it is all political... Me and you are having this conversation without thinking about our tribe or religion, I go to market, I buy from the best price, I engage daily activities without considering tribe or religion. But during elections that is when tribes and religion conversation come in (this is use by politicians just to get votes) As for me... Democracy is not safe, it allows politicians to use any means to come to power (we all saw what happened during GEJ) Democracy gives president total power (same as a dictator for 4/8 years) then he brings his political son as next) And lastly u ask what I will do differently Absolutely nothing, I will enrich myself and keep money that I will use for EFCC and court. But if there is a serious fight against corruption, there are so many things that can be done |
