Police Arrest Suspected Bandit in Kwara During Joint Patrol Operation

By Queen Madaki

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the National Forest Guards and members of the Kaiama Vigilante Group (KVG), have arrested a suspected bandit from Kogi State during a routine patrol in Kwara State, The Bureau News reports.

Joint Security Patrol Leads to Arrest

The suspect, identified as Mallami Abubakar, a 20-year-old from Isanlu Dankuturu in Kogi State, was apprehended on April 1, 2026, at about 8:00 a.m. in Nanu, Kaiama Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrest was made during a coordinated patrol aimed at strengthening security across vulnerable border communities.

“On April 1, 2026, at about 0800 hours, a joint patrol team comprising Police operatives, the National Forest Guards, and members of the Kaiama Vigilante Group (KVG), while on routine patrol in Nanu, intercepted and arrested one Mallami Abubakar,” the statement said.

Suspect Linked to Terrorist Recruitment Plot

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was allegedly recruited into a terrorist network by an associate identified as “Babi” from Babana Village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

Police said the suspect had been instructed to travel to Farinsuni via Baruten Local Government Area with the intention of joining a group believed to be affiliated with ISWAP/Lakurawa before his arrest.

“The individual reportedly invited him to travel to Farinsuni with the intention of joining a group believed to be affiliated with ISWAP/Lakurawa,” the command added.

Investigation Ongoing

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of his involvement and to track down other members of the network.

The Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

Security Vigilance Intensified

The Bureau News understands that joint security operations involving local vigilantes and federal agencies have been intensified across Kwara and neighboring states as part of broader efforts to combat banditry and terrorism in Nigeria.

Are these people MOWRUNS or are they just trying to ACTIVELY SABOTAGE National Security?

WHY in the world would they release this type of SENSITIVE information to the public?!

"Babi" now knows to go into HIDING.

And the TERRORISTS now know to move their RECRUITMENT camp away from Farinsuni.

The USELESS Task Force were so EAGER to toot their own horns for capturing just ONE terrorist that they DIVULGED information that could have led to the arrests and, possibly, elimination of MANY terrorists.

MADNESS!

Why arrest angry instead of outright execution 📌💯🤷🏿.

We need the second amendment law just like in the United States of America 📌💯.

Ratified in 1791 as part of the Bill of Rights, the Second Amendment states:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed".

It protects an individual's right to own firearms, a right confirmed by the Supreme Court to extend to self-defense within the home and, generally, in public.

They intentionally did it

Don't be surprised it's a way of telling the criminals to change location. It's a sabotage

What does 2nd amendment have to do with arrest or outright execution?

Seems you recently subscribed to Netflix and have been depriving yourself from sleep by watching too many movies produced in Washington DC.

You are trying to be clever but ended up sounding dumb as fork.

For your mind and now, the 2nd amendment gives the right to outright execution abi?

You sounded like a daft here… if there was an immediate execution, how would they’ve gotten an important information (concerning the iswap recruitment and the locations mentioned above) from them… Not every sh!t is meant to be handled aggressively with immediate effect cos the very thing might be your lead/ drop to a relevant info.

They arrested a suspected criminal, instead of using him as a bait to get the locations of the larger group in a very detailed and precise investigation/offensive, they rush to post it online.

Freedom, survival first, in that order...your emotions about people being skewed is not relevant when we talk of freedom, survival.

Men will give it all up for freedom, life without freedom is not living.

Right to bear arms does not mean right to execute
people without trial and due process. We need a functioning judiciary and more effective law enforcement not jungle justice
