For Iran, they see it as failure not because the airmen weren't rescued but because they succeeded in downing more US planes in the rescue operations. And that shows how both warring parties view things.

For US, even if they lose 1,000 warplanes to rescue only two men, it's worth it.

The rescued soldier is a US air force colonel.
About a dozen aircrafts were sent for the mission. Yes, helicopters and possibly C-130 was hit. US is more concerned abt the safety of their soldier. They have more than enough stock of war planes.

That clownish Iranian IRGC spokesman is just trying to massage their collective ego.
