INEC X ADC
ADC Raises Alarm Over INEC Landmines
- Plot to Prevent Party From Fielding Candidates

We are compelled to raise serious concerns about a developing situation that appears designed to prevent the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from fielding candidates in the upcoming elections. It is based on documentary evidence which we are now placing before the Nigerian public, including certified INEC records, attendance logs, monitoring reports, and excerpts from the Commission’s own sworn affidavit. Taken together, these documents establish a clear and consistent record of events.

View the records here: /NafiuGombeCase

INEC received formal notice of the July 29, 2025 National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ADC. It deployed officials to monitor that meeting. It documented the proceedings and received formal reports from its field officers. Following this, INEC updated its internal records and uploaded the names of the new leadership, including Senator David Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.
These are not claims. They are facts contained in INEC’s own records.

In addition, the Commission’s sworn affidavit before the Federal High Court, in its response to Nafiu Bala Gombe on 12 September 2025, particularly in Clauses 14 to 19, affirms key legal principles: that the leadership transition had already been completed and recognized, that such internal party matters fall outside the scope of judicial interference, that completed acts cannot be reversed by injunction, and also recognizes the David Mark-led NWC.

Yet, despite this clear documentary trail, INEC has now taken the position that it will no longer receive any correspondence from the ADC pending the determination of a matter before the Federal High Court. This is where the contradiction becomes dangerous.

The Electoral Act imposes strict timelines on political parties, including the 21-day notice requirement and submission deadlines. INEC itself has fixed May 10 as the deadline for the submission of relevant documents. However, by refusing to receive communication from the ADC within this same period, the Commission is effectively preventing the Party from complying with the law.

In simple terms, INEC is effectively threatening that unless the courts deliver judgment on the ADC leadership issue by May 10, it will prevent the ADC from producing candidates.

This places the ADC in an impossible position and creates a clear pathway to artificial non-compliance, which can then be used to justify excluding the Party from fielding candidates. That is the landmine.

INEC has claimed that its April 1 decision was taken to avoid rendering the proceedings before the Federal High Court nugatory. The reality is the opposite. By intervening in a matter already before the court and issuing a pronouncement with clear legal and operational consequences, the Commission has itself undermined the very process it claims to protect.

What is even more concerning is that this position contradicts INEC’s own prior conduct and legal stance. The same Commission that monitored, documented, recognized, and swore to an affidavit confirming the ADC leadership is now acting in a way that contradicts its earlier position.

We therefore call on the Commission to immediately reverse this position, resume the acceptance of all lawful correspondence from the ADC, and uphold its constitutional responsibility to ensure a level playing field for all political parties.

We also call on Nigerians to be wary and remain vigilant about these dangerous machinations to subvert Nigeria’s democracy and impose a civilian dictatorship on the country.

This ADC guys are clow.ns. INEC had recognized David Mark NWC untill ADC itself went to Court of Appeal. Why blame others for harms you did to yourself if you had focus on defending at the Federal High Court, INEC would still have been on your side.
All that you posted above only proves that INEC is sincere and unbias.

It's so obvious that the congregation of the people in ADC are failures.

Ordinary party internal issue, instead of taking responsibility, you want to be pointing fingers.

Would court or INEC be making decisions for your party if you have put your party in order

The unserious opposition

Re: ADC: INEC effectively blocking us From Fielding Candidates In 2027 - Abdullahi by casualobserver:
your incompetence, fraudulent tendencies, sloppiness and anyhowness is what will prevent you from fielding candidates.

your own vice chairman said he didn't resign, he was the one who went to court to request the leadership of the party should stop parading themselves as chairman etc.
the judge said i dont want to make a judgement behind your backs (ex-parte) so before I grant his request, come and explain your own side of the story, you refused.

all you had to do was tender the resignation letter for the judge.

why were you afraid to tender the resignation letter to the judge...abi it was forged true true?

I explicitly opposed Bola Ahmed Tinubu based on his stance to use religion (not capacity) as a tool to win the 2023 general election, and up till tomorrow I don't like his government especially how it is centered in Lagos State alone.

But let me make it clear, it will be very difficult for person like Tinubu (very self-centred person) to allow anyone to send him out of the villa, probably until all his intentions were uncovered by the end of 2031

REWIND: In July 2025, Nafiu Bala attended ADC unveiling of David Mark-led leadership

On July 2, 2025, Nafiu Bala, the factional acting national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was among the stakeholders who attended the party’s unveiling of the interim leadership of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola.

The event took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The event was attended by many politicians, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Peter Obi, 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP); Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna; Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation; Emeka Ihedioha, ex-deputy speaker of the house of representatives; and Ireti Kingibe, senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Others were John Oyegun, the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Abubakar Malami, the former attorney-general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice; Dino Melaye, former Kogi west senator; Solomon Dalung, former minister of sports; Aisha Yesufu, an activist; Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation magazine; Enyinnaya Abaribe, senator representing Abia south, and Gabriel Suswan, former governor of Benue.

At the event, Bala was introduced by Lauretta Onochie, former presidential aide, who co-moderated the programme, as the ADC deputy national chairman, intergovernmental affairs.

Gombe stood up from his seat to acknowledge the introduction.

The introduction can be viewed in the 14:03 section of a video posted by Symfoni on July 2, 2026

Wike Boasts Of Helping APC Use Judiciary To Kill Osun LG Funds Case, Warns Party Leaders Against Ingratitude

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly boasted that he assisted certain elements within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in deploying the judiciary to frustrate the Osun State local government allocation lawsuit.

In a video now circulating widely on social media and obtained by SaharaReporters, Wike made the claim while addressing a crowd in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The former Rivers governor accused the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, of benefitting from judicial actions against the Osun State Government without knowing those who did the work behind the scenes.

The suit in question led to the withholding of local government funds in Osun State, a development widely seen as targeting the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as opposition in the state.

Wike, who spoke angrily, suggested that the court action supporting the APC’s position against the Osun government did not happen by chance, boasting that powerful political forces worked quietly to ensure the outcome.

“Don’t take our support for Mr President for granted,” Wike warned, in an apparent message to APC leaders defending Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. “You have to be careful about the statements you make. You have to be very careful.”

He accused Basiru of political ingratitude, claiming the APC was enjoying in Osun State without understanding who engineered their advantage.

“Today, you are enjoying in Osun. You don’t know those who did the work,” Wike said. “You are opening your mouth to talk about Rivers State.”

God bless you mightily.

They are complete clowns and buffoons that are crying wolf when they actually press a "self-destroy" button on their party. It is interesting they are now appealing to public sympathy knowing buffoons like them will support their wolf cry.

If they really have a case that INEC committed illegality, why not go to court?

It seems INEC has accepted to be the fall man for the powers that be.

Court did not ask you to stop anything. But you are now crying more than the bereaved. Why not allow the court be the one to decide its own case?

What if ADC wins in court but INEC had already frustrated them and made sure they missed the electoral acts timetable?
