Bashir Ahmad, former special assistant on digital communications to the late Muhammadu Buhari, says Yusuf, the ex-president’s son, has declared his intention to contest a house of representatives’ seat in 2027.

On Monday night, speculation was rife on social media over Yusuf’s reported interest in a house of representatives seat.

In a letter dated April 3 and purportedly signed by him, Yusuf informed stakeholders of his decision to contest the federal legislative seat representing Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I am extremely delighted to inform you of my intention to contest for this position, as I aim to contribute to good leadership and bring development to our people,” the letter reads.

In a post on his X page, Ahmad confirmed the development, noting that the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders.

“Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress,” he wrote.

Since his father left office, very little has been heard about Yusuf, making his declaration to contest the house of repsentatives’ seat his most prominent political move to date.

Yes he should, but GEJ and Yaradua and even Obasanjo should also join Yusuf for allowing the problem fester as well. Ditto TInubu for doing nothing about it.

Make we no dey pretend problem start under buhari, and yes, I don't support or like Buhari, and blame him especially for bandits and ISWAP, but this problem was not started by him.

Zero, but the problem is, we can't do nothing about it.

If the people of the area are ready to rise up and support someone new, then there is nothing that Yusuf can do...and it is still early days. But if he wins, then that shows that the people of his consistuency are ready to endorse nepotism

And the same thing happens all over the country, so make we no dey pretend. Like the wives of some political potentates, including tinubu's wife becoming senator. And people vote for them with their own two hands...so nothing can be done.

This news is should be exclusively for the people of Katsina State, particularly his constituency, as they are the ones who will support him at the polls, ensuring his leadership for their benefit.

I am not a Northerner. If I were from his constituency, I would vote for him. He showed restraint throughout his father's leadership, he avoided commenting in the social space, insulting anyone or flaunting wealth, unlike most politicians' children.
