When are we going to get things right in Nigeria? Healthcare that supposed to take a chunk of the country's budget is facing a lot of bottleneck and neglect from the past cand current govt. Why cant we just copy something good from the advanced countries like improved healthcare, access to good roads, uninterrupted power supply, reduced unemployment and improved security? Why is it that corruption is the hallmark of our leaders? Why do our leaders like making life unbearable for the people while flaunting riches and wealth acquired through public funds? |

The big positives from this administration. No strike is allowed. The both associations notorious for strikes in Nigeria, ASUU and NMA haven’t go on strike in 3 years. |

Give it to President Tinubu ,there's industrial harmony during his first term! |

We must minimize strike in our health sector if we want to grow as a nation |

It’s quite sad that I had to take my dad to India for medical treatment . Currently sending this message from Kim’s Hispital’s Thane India . We wasted millions in one of the high reputable hospitals in Lagos only to realize that don’t care about the patient . They keep referring us to useless tests and scans that were not useful to him because of the commissions they were getting from the referrals . He kept telling us to fly him out till we divided to grant him his wish . He wasn’t sleeping at the hospital . He kept complaining that it seems like there is an evil spirit at the hospital that is denying him sleep . He sleeps better now and have been responding to treatment . Have only paid 300$ so far and they admitted us with proper care and feeding . The 300$ is like a day or two days pay at the Hospital back home . We were buying food despite the huge pay . I was sleeping on a plastic chair but here there is a bed for me ( the attendant )You need to see the rooms and beds . Top notch . I pray for God to perfect his healing and for me to. Ring him back successfully . I need your prayers at this time . |

I don’t understand, are we to celebrate the government that medical doctors are not going on strike despite the huge tax ? |

Does part of their underlying demands include that Physicians should control other independent licensed Healthcare professionals and their respective councils? ![]() |

NewHe:Industrial harmony? These same guys had been on strike for about 4 months earlier this year o. These APC guys are funny sha |
| Re: Resident Doctors Call Off Strike After Reaching Interim Agreement With FG by NewHe: 11:22pm On Apr 07 |
Dbegining:Yes, for them to call off the strike then and now means there's harmony between parties, or what do you think? |
| Re: Resident Doctors Call Off Strike After Reaching Interim Agreement With FG by babayega(m): 11:22pm On Apr 07 |
Interim agreement? So when's the next strike? Yeye government |
| Re: Resident Doctors Call Off Strike After Reaching Interim Agreement With FG by Dbegining: 11:26pm On Apr 07 |
NewHe:No. It's not industrial harmony. The medical sector going on strike for 4 months out of 6 shows there's no industrial harmony AT ALL! If there were industrial Harmony, try won't even go on strike. Do you know how delicate the medical sector is? Do you know that in industrial relations, strike is the very last option these unions take? Meaning they've tried every other option and the FG still refused to do what is right. |
| Re: Resident Doctors Call Off Strike After Reaching Interim Agreement With FG by NewHe: 11:48pm On Apr 07 |
4 Dbegining:What's right is subjective, rather it what they (doctors want) ! Last year or so for almost 6-8 months the healthcare workers including Nurses down tools in UK NHS, What's the end result-distruption in healthcare services, that institution or service had been bastardize due to excessive demands ! |
| Re: Resident Doctors Call Off Strike After Reaching Interim Agreement With FG by oshkoach: 5:13am On Apr 08 |
These resident doctors never get tired of always going on strike. They have become ASUU of the 21st century. I no longer take the news of them going on strike as news anymore. |
| Re: Resident Doctors Call Off Strike After Reaching Interim Agreement With FG by Dbegining: 5:26am On Apr 08 |
NewHe:First, you lied about the doctors going on 6-8 months of strike last year. The highest duration of their strike last year was 5 DAYS! I have proof, but I won't drop it now. I want you to dispute it first before rubbing you on the ground. Secondly, The UK (and their industrial relations is very good) as good as their industrial relations is, is not the standard for industrial relations. You don't hear of the kinds of strikes that take place in Nigeria in other countries like The US, Canada, South Korea, Germany and even China. Lastly, in case you don't know, the Nigerian Health workers are one of the most poorly paid in the WHOLE WORLD. While the government waste money on politics and sub standard roads and buildings, these guys languish away. Number 3, It is a fact, (and you'll know this if you know about industrial relations) that the Nigerian government is a very bad negotiator. What is right is what the government and the workers can come into agreement with, without putting our medica system on the edge for so long as 4 months! |
| Re: Resident Doctors Call Off Strike After Reaching Interim Agreement With FG by NewHe: 9:28am On Apr 08 |
Dbegining:I don't meant to say last year but in the last 3 years (error regretted) There had been cumulative of more than 60 days of strike by health care workers in the UK since 2023 including junior doctors, nurses and ambulances/emergency workers! Nigeria doctors /healthcare workers aren't the least paid in the world, please. I accepted it could be better and it cut across both private and public institutions! |
| Re: Resident Doctors Call Off Strike After Reaching Interim Agreement With FG by Dbegining: 9:55am On Apr 08 |
NewHe:First I'm glad that we've moved away from the harmony thing or that the president is trying cause both are false. Now like I said the UK as good as their industrial relations system is, gives workers more rights to demand more. But 60 days strike out of 1175 days is good compared to Nigeria's record of 149 days out of 1175 days and still no concrete agreement reached by the Nigeria government. Also, in the UK they don't go on 4 MONTHS STRIKE! 4 WHOLE MONTHS! Please let's just hold our government to d better with the health sector. You don't want to have an emergency with a loved one and hear "No doctor on duty today because the are on strike" You don't know the pain that statement can bring. Enough said! |
| Re: Resident Doctors Call Off Strike After Reaching Interim Agreement With FG by NewHe: 10:32am On Apr 08 |
Dbegining:I partially agreed with some of your submissions, do you know that this government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Subsidise Renal Dialysis for Nigerians? At N12k compared to N45k'N60k in the states and private hospitals, you see patients patronising private ones when public doctors are on strike! And who owns or manages most of these private clinics? Nigeria is a complex country, where greed and selfishness reigns supreme! #NigeriansAreFantasisticallyCorrupt! Blaire wasn't referring to politicians o,but Nigerians! |
