Gunmen on Monday night ambushed and killed a 300-level student of Federal University of Education, Pankshin, Dum Village, Bachi District of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, Rep9ja reports.

The student identified as 29-year-old Badung Sunday Alamba, was killed Monday, when the attackers, who reportedly positioned themselves at the entrance of the village, opened fire on two young men from the community, but one escaped.

He was said to be the only child of his mother.

A member of the community, Mr Dung Elisha, who spoke to our correspondent, said, “he was the only child of his mother”.

The deceased’s companion, Dachomo Habila, narrowly escaped unhurt despite attempts by the gunmen to kill him.

Rwang Tengwong, National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), confirmed the incident to newsmen.

He strongly condemned the attack, describing it as “a premeditated, calculated and barbaric assault on innocent civilians”.

Tengwong said the attackers deliberately targeted  Berom communities in Riyom, Barkin Ladi, and Jos South Local Government Areas.

He called for an immediate and thorough investigation into the killing and urged security agencies to track down the perpetrators and their sponsors and bring them to justice without delay.

The BYM spokesman also urged security operatives to strengthen surveillance and protection around vulnerable communities that have repeatedly come under attack.

Efforts to reach the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, for comments proved abortive.

If only the government can allow every citizen to own arms to defend themselves, all this nonsense will stop...the reason this terrorist are killing people like it's their right us because no one is challenging them because the police arrests people with used motor battery but allow Fulani herdsmen to move even in and out of police stations with AK-47

It’s so sad that the Nigerian government can no longer protect Nigerians. Citizens having access to guns however isn’t the solution, as Nigeria isn’t a stable country with security. Implementing such will cause more chaos in a 100 fold.

We must stand together and fight this government. We must have rights to purchase registered licensed guns to protect ourselves. This should be the way forward. It's already clear that the government cannot directly protect th lives of its citizens...
Something must be done about this

It is very well with his wife, the First Lady who has been dining and praying with King Charles and Trump.

It is very well with his son that is using city boy movement to make his father reelected easily next year, as a prelude to a 3rd term agenda for life president, as Biya in Cameroon.

It’s the opposition that is very unwell and unwise for not making concessions to keep their leaders united in the process of getting Nigeria back to PDP’s prosperity years.

You think all these things are still handwork of Fulani herdsmen? Please wake up. Maybe people like you are 'Christian genocide' crusaders.
Do you know that in plateau state, right from the governor, deputy governor, speaker, the commissioners, SAs, LG Chairmen , all are Christians? But about 4 LGA are Muslim dominated? Which state power does the Muslims have there to commit these kind of degree of crime?
Crime has no religion. Leave Islam alone.

Plateau issue is about mineral resources. Lithium, cobalt, tin and so on.

Plateau, Benue and Kaduna states are sitting on these minerals. Tesla company in US, China, France needed all these. Connect the remaining dots please.

Only for areas that have conflict. They should be allowed to defend themselves or have vigilantes.

if u give it to everyone some people will turn to armed robbery overnight. Nigerians are that stupid and desperate with the level of poverty and bad governance. it will be a real jungle.

You see, I stop arguing with Muslims when I discovered they are commanded to lie (Takiyya) by whatever is it that they worship,,...you guys started and are doing your jihad kpaing directly and disguise in different forms to make it not suspicious which is the Takiyya tactics we are talking about, so always keep christians out of your mouth when talking about terrorism pls....

The must senseless and useless comment I have read on this forum today.
Mining have been ongoing on plateau state for nearly 100 years, even before wide scale industrial Mining by the colonial masters.
There was no killing of the natives, until 2005 when this nonsense killing started by the Islamist.
Muslims doesn't have control of 4 LGC on the plateau. That's a big fat lie. Apart from wase and kanam LGC(which is not by an overwhelming majority),there's no LGC that Muslims are the majority. Even the jos north is still dominated by the Christians, from landmass to population.
In kanam LGC,the Muslims there are indigenous Muslims, prominent are Yusuf gagdi, who is the reps member representing pankshin, kanam and kanke LGC,with Christians having 3 times the Muslim population in that zone but they choose to election a Muslim as a house of reps member.
Mangu LGC has 95% Christians but elected a Muslim as a house of assembly member and had Muslim as a chairman.
In jos north-Bassa house of reps constituency, from 2015-2023,from the late mai tala to Dan london(which are all Muslims, no Christians never won any election except for musa agha, which was upturned by the court of appeal),knowing fully well that the Christians have an overwhelming majority in the LGCs combined 🙄.
Wase LGC alone was allowed to create a house of representatives, which is an anomaly, knowing that there are other LGC within the same zone like langtang north, langtang south, mikang, shendam, and quanpan LGC, which are within the same zone. Why did that happened? Because they want a dominant Muslim population and political agenda on the plateau.
We know that there's an agenda against plateau state. We the elders know but we are quite because of political correctness.
Politics is all about population and interest, if not, babayao yusuf gagdi can't be a reps member (for two term),because Christians have the highest population in his constituency.
Nothing stops the Muslims in plateau state from contesting for the governorship of plateau state, let them test the waters too,if it's easier, since you feel they have the population to challenged for the highest seat in the state.
This your post will be taken to the elders meeting, you will see the results of your ignorance.
Appointments are based on capacity and availability of slot. Muslims are appointed into various positions on the plateau from PAs,SAs,board Chairmen, etc.
Stop misleading the people, unless you're trying to reveal your hidden agenda.

I will say even in repentance they shall know no peace only that they would have decided to kill no more.

There’s reoccurring insecurity and it seems like the government cannot handle the security situation. It is time they pass a law to allow citizens bear firearms, let’s see if all this nonsense will continue.

I don't know why you like mentioning a particular tribe as the culprit in issues like this.
While it's noticeably that the news did not mention eye witness who saw these attackers.

Do you think what you're doing will help the country? Go and ask Rwanda.

your ignorance is why you don’t own one . Talk to the nearest DPO to your location and you will get what’s allowed under the law. They are also easy to modify to carry more ammunition
