The #OccupyINEC protest led by key political figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Rotimi Amaechi in Abuja is a bold and necessary stand in defense of Nigeria’s democracy. At the heart of this protest is a growing concern about the refusal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize their political platform. Many Nigerians believe this is not just a routine administrative issue, but a calculated move influenced by the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), to weaken opposition voices and tilt the democratic space in its favor. If electoral institutions begin to act in ways that suggest bias or external influence, it undermines public trust and threatens the very foundation of democracy. The independence of INEC must not only exist on paper—it must be evident in its actions and decisions. Even if these leaders share the same political alignment, their unified stance sends a powerful message: democracy must be protected from manipulation, and no ruling party should have the power to suppress or sideline legitimate political participation. Peaceful protests like this are not acts of defiance against the state—they are acts of patriotism. They reflect the determination of Nigerians to demand fairness, transparency, and accountability from those entrusted with overseeing the electoral process. In the end, a credible democracy is one where institutions are neutral, opposition is respected, and the will of the people is never compromised. Supporting this protest is, therefore, supporting the future of Nigeria. |

The ADC Party issue is an internal political crisis and a legal matter but this is what opposition really stand for, giving the ruling party a tough ride, making international organization and government to beam touch light into our political system, mounting pressure on the ruling party. Who knows what this rally can do, don't underestimate it and don't overrate it. |

When they are ready, they will go back home, sit together and resolve their differences, then approach the courts to discontinue all cases. For now all they are doing is grandstanding and playing to the gallery. |

Shut down the government and if the druggie does otherwise, form a parallel government. We don't want military to take over but what is a democratic system when opposition is systematically killed? We need a fair contest and we have many positions to fill up other than presidency. Free and fair contest doesn't mean Tinubu or Obi will win. It's healthy for our growth as a nation. A fair contest brought Otti to power and we want a fair contest to produce both APC and ADC governors in the future |

Akamon:How about LP, & PDP matter? In 2014, APC had crises but INEC never issued any pres statement threatening the then opposition party, court never issued any judgement against the then opposition party. We need a vibrant opposition party to checkmate the ruling party so they can sit tight and give real dividend of democracy to Nigerians. Sharing of useless nonsensical rice up and down is not the real dividend of democracy. |

Tinubu can only rig where opposition sleeps. How many you want kill. Let him rig Anambra or Kano in 2027 let's see. You get 31 governors and you still want only you on the ballot. |
