8 Things I Learned After The 14-day Ceasefire Between The United States And Iran by Georgry(op): 9:55am On Apr 08
The recent 14-day ceasefire between the United States and Iran has been one of the most defining geopolitical events of the decade.

Beyond the headlines and political rhetoric, the conflict exposed deeper lessons about modern warfare, global interdependence, and the shifting balance of power in the world.

Here are the 8 major takeaways from this historic pause in hostilities:

1. Wars Are Not Won by Brute Force Alone
The conflict showed clearly that strategy, planning, and geography matter as much as firepower.
Iran has been preparing for a potential confrontation with the U.S. for years.

They understood their terrain, their chokepoints, and their asymmetric advantages.
The United States underestimated:

Iran’s long-term military planning
Iran’s ability to control the Strait of Hormuz
The difficulty of invading a mountainous, hostile country Geography remains unforgiving.

2. The U.S. Cannot Afford a Prolonged War With Iran

Despite political posturing, the United States knows that a prolonged war with Iran would trigger:

A severe global energy crisis

A domestic political disaster ahead of mid-term elections

Rising fuel and energy prices already felt across the U.S.

Oil is a global commodity—price shocks hit everywhere, including inside America.
Iran could “wait it out”; the U.S. could not.

3. The United States Cannot Open the Strait of Hormuz by Force

Even with the world’s most powerful navy, forcing open the Strait of Hormuz is extremely risky and prohibitively expensive.

Reasons:

At its narrowest point, the strait is only a few kilometers wide.

Ships move slowly through chokepoints and are highly vulnerable to missile, drone, and submarine attacks.

Iran doesn't have to do too much, Just one or two successful attacks can shut the strait for months.

Oil tankers are extremely costly assets own by private individuals, investors won't risk losing their ships..

Insurance companies will refuse coverage if the route becomes a warzone.

Donald Trump understands this reality.
There was no military solution that could safely or sustainably reopen the strait.

4. The World Cannot Survive a Long Blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz is the bloodstream of global energy.
If it stays blocked for 1–2 months:

Oil shipments collapse

Fertilizer exports dry up

Petrochemicals and key minerals stop flowing

This would result in a global economic disaster with ripple effects across food production, transportation, and manufacturing.

5. Donald Trump Demystified the Myth of U.S. Omnipotence

The conflict exposed the limits of U.S. power in the modern era.
Asymmetric warfare used by Iran, Gaza, Ukraine, and others allows smaller nations to inflict significant damage on powerful armies.

Trump expected:
Regime change
Unconditional surrender
A quick victory
He got none.

The war proved that determination, geography, and strategy can level the playing field.

6. Iranians Are Ferocious and Determined Fighters

Regardless of political views, Iran proved that it is willing to absorb losses and fight back against two powerful adversaries the U.S. and Israel.

Despite heavy damage, Iran:
Responded strategically
Maintained morale
Demonstrated readiness to continue the fight
Their resilience surprised many global observers.

7. The World Is Truly a Global Village

A conflict thousands of kilometers away froze the global energy system.
In Nigeria, fuel prices jumped over 50%, and some countries like India were hit even harder.

This showed:
No country is isolated from global events
Supply chains are fragile
Energy disruptions can cripple economies worldwide

8. Energy Security Is Essential for National Stability
Without the Dangote Refinery, Nigeria would likely be facing severe fuel scarcity today.

The conflict highlighted a critical truth:

A nation without energy security is a nation vulnerable to global shocks.
Local refining capacity is now a matter of economic survival not luxury.

Bombing Iranian power facilities will force their leaders that are living or hiding in the holes to come out of their holes due to power outage and this is the only reason they accepted the ceasefire

A lesson in restraint and calmness has also been learnt.

Most people didn't know Iran had the capabilities they do until this war.
Blocking the strait of Hormuz can upturn world economy, affecting the entire globe.
Yet, Iran refused to use these cards to stop years of hostilities and sanctions against it because of the turmoil that will ensue.
Imagine what America will do with such powers.
Trump and Netanyahu poked the lion, they learnt the hard way.
Now Iran will fully control the strait and make tons of money from it.

No be gragra be everything
Don't underestimate anybody.

First Iran DID NOT accept any ceasefire before the deadline.
Trump's threat expired at 8pm on Tuesday night and Iran didn't budge. The ceasefire happened later

Iran had previously rejected several other offers of ceasefire from the US and allies.
This time around, Iran's major ally, China, waded in and pressed on Iran to accept the ceasefire, especially as the US was prepared to accept all Iran's demands.

But, make no mistake about it, it's in America and Israel's interest to keep the ceasefire, the strait of Hormuz now belongs to Iran.

And USA didn't make any demands? Or what are they negotiating?
Re: 8 Things I Learned After The 14-day Ceasefire Between The United States And Iran by Elusive001: 3:26pm On Apr 08
Somethings things everyone has learnt are that it is not by size.

Iran is 70 to 90 times the size of Israel.

Iran talks too much but could not do much to israel.

Israel knows how to deal with Iran.

Israel's war strategy needs to be studied.

Do not wish other people death because they may kill you may before time. Khamenei used to shout, "death to USA", "death to Israel". Palestinians, "from river to the sea".

Propaganda and lies do not win wars.

October 7 madness was the greatest mistake hamas, Iran, and Hezbollah ever made.

No human being can ever remove israel from their land. It is only GOD Almighty and He never said that He will do so at the end times.

They had only one demand:
Keep the strait of Hormuz open for 2 weeks.
Iran agreed to that provided the ceasefire isn't violated.

100 percent right, let me add to this

Iran has officially shown the world that it's also a world superpower. Everybody now sees Iran as a key player in global affairs, this is a big win for Iran.

So this sh*t of us waging a useless war in the middle east will stop make Iran no go over choke them

I also learnt that trump was choked, was running helter shelter for a withdrawal grin

Trump can now see the reason why former American presidents were avoiding going to war with Iran.
Arrogance is a disease that Trump is afflicted with, and it is affecting USA negatively.
Just like that, the over 47 years sanctions against Iran will be lifted and Iran will be a force to reckon with in the international politics.

All your lessons learnt were in favour of Iran, you forgot that US would have bombed their power plant and nothing will happen, but the decided not to follow that path because they knew the hardship Iranians would have undergo because of the destruction of the power plant, one thing you guys failed to understand about that country called Iran, they are wicked and heartless, assuming they were US, they would have destroyed that country, the unrest Middle east are always facing, 80% of the unrest are instigated by Iran. Even Saudi Arabia, hate associating with them because of their wicked nature of life... I will say majority of people supporting Iran are doing so as a result of religion, no sensible someone will ever support Iran. The reason US don't want to grant them nuclear program go ahead is because of their wickedness, US knew the first target once they are successful with the program.

Some of you have been "wash brained" beyond redemption. Do you know which country has not invaded any country in modern history among US, Israel, and Iran?
Yet you call them wicked, while the other two have invaded and killed millions of citizens of other countries. Do you know the only country that has ever used a nuclear weapon on another country? Yet you see them as the good guys while a country that doesn't even have a nuclear weapon and has been on sanctions for years is the bad guy.
Think, think , think -- it's not that hard.

I don't think you got the full information about why US use atomic bomb during the second world war, go and read holocaust( the killing Hitler carried out against the Jews) also read the agenda of Hitler towards the rest of the world, then you will appreciate US for using atomic bomb, again US won't invade your country if you are not a threat to them, Unlike Iran that secretly equipped Islamic groups such as Hamas, Hisbola, etc with ammunitions in fighting other countries and intimidating the government of that same country, Iran were the chief sponsor of Isis that went about declaring Islamic nations on any country they conquer thank God US disseminated that group if not they would have conquer nations all thanks to Iran.

what you people failed to understand is that its good that Iran use the leverage this last moment. assuming they use it before now it wont have work like this. after this leverage its finish nothing to use again few years from now.

Asia that so much rely on the strait of Hormuz have learnt a critical lesson. like japan, India and south Korea already planning alternative routes and energy.

Europe will no longer depends on the strait of Hormuz, that why Nigeria will revived more investment in the oil drilling field next year.

the Hormuz leverage will not happen again, fact the only thing that can save Iran is to form alliance with the U.S if they want to succeed.

even Iran too have learnt the hard way. depending and hoping for china and Russia. America alliance is the greatest alliance no one dare to confront it
