Chieftains of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, on Wednesday warned President Bola Tinubu against turning Nigeria into a one-party state.

Speaking on behalf of the party during the OccupyINEC protest in Abuja, Peter Obi said the Tinubu administration is destroying democratic governance in Nigeria.

The former Labour Party’s presidential candidate said: “We are simply holding a peaceful demonstration to say that we cannot have a one-party system in our country. It is a democratic nation.

We are appealing to those in government: do not destroy our democracy. We need it for our children and for generations to come. Nigerians must have the freedom to choose who leads them. This is critical for our country.”

On his part, former Minister of Transportation and ex-Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, accused Tinubu’s administration of forcing hunger on Nigerians.

Amaechi warned that Tinubu would lose the 2027 presidential election.

“Imagine a president who came to power and the first thing he did was to change the national anthem… and gave us hunger. He said he would give us roads; up till now, they have not given us roads. The money is gone. By the grace of God, they will lose the election,” Amaechi said.

When has anyone proposed a one party system in Nigeria? Did His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) or any of his subordinates say such?

Resolve your internal matters and stop hindering the progress of the administration with baseless exaggerations.

That woman said, “gbogbo ibi to ba wa o ma ni inira ni,” meaning wherever Tinubu is, hardship will follow him. It clearly reflects deep frustration and exhaustion.

It happened to LP and you lot said resolve your internal matters. Happened to PDP and you lot said resolve your internal matters. Happened to NNPP and you lot said resolve your internal matters. It's now happening to ADC and you're repeating the same. Well, this is your final bus stop. Tinubu will not be allowed to select his preferred opposition at the ballot come 2027. Tinubu is setting the condition precedent where he will face unprecedented resistance even if he becomes the only candidate on the ballot. He has already succeeded in uniting the opposition against himself.

So to sophisticated people and failure strategist , having Inec and judiciary as your foot soldiers is how elections are conducted in other countries… if you’re really sure of yourself, let Inec chairman, and chief justice of Nigeria be independent and not answerable to or being appointed by the president , then you’ll see free and fair elections… see the pettiness of Apc , ever since kwankwaso joined, Tulumbu has been scared.

If you’re so convinced you’ve worked for the people, you don’t need the governors or celebrities by paying them to be with you in your camp…. You should have the people because power is with the people not governors… see abia state for example
