The strait is a chock point where sea meet inland. Unlike middle of the seas. Despite the sea mines or drones attacks. The seabed is narrows into iran territory making them having the longest chock point compared to Oman.

The IRGC doesn’t need to be at the sea to conduct an attack on a ship. They can conduct an attack from inland. Although Iranian technology and capability is still very limited. They don’t have the technology yet that can attack a moving object. Their missiles and shaheed drones can only attack stationary objects.

Except Russia supplied them weapons for that taks which CIA intelligence acknowledged from their recent iran attacks on U.S jets was Russia supplied 9K333 Verba Man-Portable (MANPAD)

With that anything can happen. Lets admit they are capable to attack ships from inland.

Even if by chance America can protect the Strait of Hormuz. No insurance and logistics company was willing to get involved in hostile regions.

Just saying you have close the strait even of there is no actual threats by iran will automatically increase insurance and oil price.

Can you graciously tell us how Iran lost with the closure of Strait of Hormuz? Economically, at the least.

USE YOUR HEAD.

EVEN TODAY, PETROL PRICE IN AMERICA HAS SKYROCKETED. Which is what led Trump to seek a ceasefire. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is having an adverse effect on the US economy, which is politically damaging for him and his party, as they approach their November mid-term elections.

THE PRICE OF PETROL IN AMERICA IS BASED ON INTERNATIONAL MARKET PRICE, JUST AS IN NIGERIA.

So, Iran controlling the route through which 25% of the world's oil passes, affects EVERY country on Earth. Higher fuel price means higher cost of goods and services to follow, and it's worldwide.

Crude oil shipping vessels usually cost over 100 million dollars. Supertankers cost far more than that. Now let's say they carry an average of 3 million barrels of crude, that's around 280 million dollars worth of crude. So let's be conservative and say an average oil shipping vessel and it's contents can be worth around 400 - 500 million dollars.

All of this passing through a narrow strait under threat from a less than 5000 dollar drone? You'd be braindead as a ship captain to take this risk. There is a reason no insurance company worldwide wants to cover any ship that dares pass through the strait.

There is nothing the US can do to change this. That's why America anchored its ships far away from the Iranian coast. The US navy has no answer to underwater drones and had its mine clearing ships deactivated last year. Anyone who thinks the US has anything it can do to force open the strait of Hormuz should ask the captain of the Moskva how far.
