EFCC Arrests Fake Instagram Football Agent Over Alleged ₦11 Million Scam by cityboylagos(op): 7:30am On Apr 09
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a man accused of posing as a football agent on Instagram and defrauding a victim of millions of naira.

The suspect, identified as Osagie Destiny Etinosa, was picked up by officials from the commission’s Benin Zonal Directorate following allegations of fraud totaling N11 million. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to reports, Etinosa allegedly used his Instagram presence to present himself as a well-connected football agent capable of linking aspiring players with clubs abroad.

He reportedly convinced a victim, Samuel Beke Ohazuruike, that he could arrange trial opportunities with clubs in Romania and Bulgaria.

Believing the offer to be genuine, the victim paid a total sum of N11 million in hopes of advancing his football career internationally.

However, the promised trials never materialized, and repeated attempts by the victim to recover his money were unsuccessful.

This eventually led to a petition being filed with the EFCC, prompting an investigation.

The anti-graft agency disclosed that the suspect was tracked and arrested using intelligence gathered from online sources.

The EFCC has confirmed that the suspect will be charged to court soon to face prosecution over the alleged offense.

This case highlights the growing trend of fraudsters exploiting the dreams of young athletes seeking opportunities abroad. Many unsuspecting individuals fall victim to fake agents promising trials, contracts, or transfers with foreign clubs.

Time and time again, the easiest scam has always been obtaining from people who "try to buy their way into unfair advantage".

I hope he's made to recompense, not just being prosecuted - sell of his known properties to pay off the victim(s).

Always remember football in Europe is tough to get into. Unless you are in the U20 squad.

When even people that are born in the same europe, go to academy, are dropped like flies at the end of the training by their clubs.

Let's say the guy was born and bred in Europe, the person duped...and he got into an academy. 4-6 % of academy graduates make it to top level

Transferring from overseas, it is even worse.

And Romanian and Bulgarian clubs pay scanty wages.

EFCC should also go after the PDP and ADC members who not only created the conditions , but made it possible for tinubu to take over.

Fraud is not necessary, if the guy had collected N100k each from 50 people. Given them YouTube accounts and uploaded their videos and emails to top clubs to do their own searches would anyone have called him a fraudster ? These guys want to do nothing and make money. How now ?

Football in Europe is extremely easy to get into. Neymar was marketed via YouTube to several teams and they all watched his YouTube's. The key to be a footballer is have over whelming talent. Once the talent is overwhelming the marketing be becomes easier.
Give me a Over talented footballer in Nigeria and I will get him a club in Europe 3 months time. One talent is overwhelming that is 80 percent of the work already done.

The key word is very talented

Neymar was very talented...Very much so. It wasn't just Youtube.

Also, how many overtalented players have you set to Europe, just curious, and can you give names?

I have not sent anyone because that is not my field but if I I saw one to get in touch with a club is very easy .....they all have emails which they check regularly so all you need is hype up the player. I know the power of talent. Talent is like a beautiful Obirin with all options in over abundance. I know a couple of guys who were rather good but they lacked even the belief to create videos of themselves on YouTube. Those guys will never make it. Talent and belief go hand in hand. Sometimes you can be very talented and people will still not believe..... Then you move to OVERBELIEF

Football runs on talent and not agents . Have talent in abundance and the fake agents will come.

Bro the guy has said it all what more do you want him to say again.?.,What he is saying is make sure you are over talented before you make a move and that makes perfect sense. Even if you are selling pure water confidence to market comes from being better than the competition. He has said it all get your videos on YouTube enmass of playing football. Contact the clubs directly way before hand. Hype yourself as being better than Messi. You must be as good as Michael Olise. It's no difference than selling a product, the better product and the hyped product stand the same chance. Then the best product wins. What more do you want the guy to say ?

Did he really say he was an agent ? What is the level of your education ? What the guy said was if he saw a player he would take it upon himself to make sure he got his due. level of thinking is so shallow. You clearly do not understand the dynamics of football. There are so many cases of footballers who were rejected by clubs and a member of that club goes out of his way to drive the player to so many other clubs. When talent is too much people protect it. Burna Boy called Victor Osimhen one of the greatest players of all time on global international television a year ago when no one was praising Osimhen. Now Osimhen is getting his due after what he did in Napoli nobody wanted him because he is an expensive African but since he has proven himself in Galatasaray and in the champions league everyone bows to him now.

What the guy simply said was if he sees a player as good as Michael Olise he will send emails to clubs abroad on his behalf, he never said he was an agent.
