nani667:I guess they're just not consistent with procedures. Some people mentioned receiving increment notification via text when a proper EMAIL should've sufficed disseminating info properly. About subscription reminders, I still get those TXT like every day 3 days straight leading to expiry used to be 7days straight lol |

nani667:Just use the REMINDER App on your phone. Set it via the app and leave it to remind you always. |

I wish i saw this before paying. They installed mine two months ago. Then they ran away. Till date it has not worked. Ive called their customer care endlessly, they keep saying they are working on it. What are you working on for over two months? Meanwhile, this issue is peculiar to me in the area - not like a general issue. omoalayo: |

They will block your number immediately after installation, knowing fully well you will have issues in the future. I even tipped my own engineer 10k when he came to install. When one truck cut my cable the next week, I called him to explain to him. He said he will call me back then blocked me on whatsapp and normal calls zanjorrg: |

Service on my My fiberX has just been restored after a down time of about 6weeks. Pls does anyone here have an idea of how I can request for restoration of 3 weeks of unused days. Because I need them to reimburse me for the 3weeks unused days o.. Has anyone here ever being reimbursed in a similar situation? |
| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by Mykcool(m): 11:22am On Apr 07 |
dere5:Call them and request for it. I was told by a customer care agent to call and request after service is restored, whenever I experience a long downtime. |

Just saw Airtel in front of my street setting up their hardware, I thought it was MTN sef, they told me they were Airtel, and it was Fibre... 🫤 They said 45K for on-boarding, before the monthly subscription fee.. 😐 Dem no wan give free router and Installation like MTN. Or maybe na those engineers just dey quote fraudulent prices to me 🤔 |
| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by nani667: 12:25pm On Apr 09 |
Hmm.. So I just saw this in their website.. So the installation cost the engineer was quoting to me was scam.. The Subscription charges are decent, but that installation cost is not necessary sha 😒

nani667:Considering my experiences with both networks, if you think an Airtel Fibre service is going to be any better than MTN's, you're probably in for a bad time. If you want to use Airtel, their ODU is a better option simply because it's wireless. |
| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by nani667: 3:07pm On Apr 09 |
HeavenlyBang:If the pricing was reasonable and they were giving free Devices like MTN then I would have been inclined to give it a try... No reason to pay for "On-boarding" when MTN is cheaper |
| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by HeavenlyBang(op): 3:13pm On Apr 09 |
nani667:Yep, extra 10mbps for 30k isn't enough to cover up the installation fee. |
| Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by nani667: 3:26pm On Apr 09 |
HeavenlyBang:Yup.. that 30K for 60Mbps is the same amount we are currently paying for 50Mbps on MTN.. I would have gladly jumped on the Airtel if not for the ridiculous installation fee.. Well, at least I know that they are in my Estate now.. whenever MTN decides to hike prices beyond what the masses can afford na to casually transition to the Airtel Fibre.. Or maybe Airtel will wise up and decide to start giving their own router for free.. cos all these Estates and locations that they are going to setup their hardware are places that already have MTN Fibre, nobody will just abandon MTN fiber (that they received for free) and go and pay 35K for installation. They better wise up if they want to compete with MTN on this Fibre matter 😤 |

My fiber x router has been installed for over three days now, but the LOS indicator continues to flash a stubborn red. The engineer assured me it would settle down, yet here we are, three days later, still blinking red. I've reached out to 217 twice, only to be told that my device remains unactivated. Has anyone else faced this perplexing situation? |

For anyone running fibre into an office or home lab — the Ethernet connectors matter as much as the cable quality. Cheap RJ45 jacks and patch panels can introduce packet errors under high sustained throughput (100+ Mbps fibre). Industrial-spec connectors (Cat6A shielded, gold-plated contacts) are rated for 750+ mating cycles vs maybe 50 for consumer keystones. If you are spec'ing your internal wiring, https://mc-element.com/connector has a comparison table of connector families (RJ45, M8/M12, USB-C) with cycle-life and contact-resistance ratings. Worth checking before you crimp a hundred patch cables for your fibre installation. |

dere5:An update on the above post. So I switched on my router this morning and saw that I could browse with it. I had switched off my router after my subscription had ended and service was restored . I had been checking my fibreX dashboard to see if they have compensated me for the down time and up until this morning it was still saying that I had no ongoing plan and that my wallet was zero, because I had called customer care to request for a compensation of down time which amounted to 21days and the lady I spoke to had told me that I'll see the credit on my dash board when I'm compensated. So mtn has compensated me after all without my knowledge |

I got connected to An agent that assisted my friend with installing his fiberx and he requested for some of my information after which I received a payment link from mtn. I made the payment successfully and since then I've not received any other details (asides payment receipt). He's claiming I should have gotten an email with an attached document and some other details.

snezBaba:Yes he's right you should get an email, but sometimes they make a mistake of not sending it, just as they didn't send me an onboarding email too .But he should be able to assist you with just your receipt. But if he can't, I would advise you to call the FibreX helpline 217 from an MTN phone and follow the voice prompts and you can put the last 6 digits of your MTN number when they ask for your FN ID. You can then ask for help when they finally connect you with a customer care rep. You might need to wait for a while before you're put through to an agent |
