bassdow:thanks for your time boss…it’s rated 12v…. I plan to buy 12v 200ah lithium battery….can 2 450 watts solar panels charge them? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by SourYoghurt: 8:16pm On Apr 10 |
bassdow:but noise |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 8:29pm On Apr 10 |
AyarmBoye:2pcs of 450w would give approximately 900w which is just about 100w above what most charge controllers supports for 12v system. in other words, YES 2pcs of 450w solar panels would work though the charge controller would slightly clip it . BUT please ensure it's just a single 12v 200AH battery. Don't try 2pcs of 12v battery which would give 12v 400AH as it would struggle to charge. That's if you prefer Tubular battery, instead of Lithium based battery. if Properly planed and sized, a used battery should serve you well enough while saving you money |

sirneyo2005:but what if the charger controller also has no way of setting it to Lithium |

bassdow:😂 You have a point, premium products often come at a premium cost. ![]() |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by AyarmBoye(m): 8:53pm On Apr 10 |
bassdow:No I don’t want tubular battery…I want a lithium battery…looking at 12v 2.5kwh…..strictly solar charging since the inverter is an old one…. My question is can those two 450 watts charge it? Also since I can’t use the inverter to charge lithium battery,, I don’t need to plug the inverter to main grid charge socket because if I do it will charge the lithium battery which may affect it right? |

A good quality charge controller is almost d same price with with a hybrid 1.5kva inverter... |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 9:52pm On Apr 10 |
AyarmBoye:YES 2pcs of 450w solar panels can charge the batteries very well Oooo Just ensure you do not use NEPA / Generator to charge the batteries |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 9:54pm On Apr 10 |
cyif2003:So So TRUE. Also a quality USEd charge controller is also close to cost of a USEd hybrid inverter EXCEPT you lucky like I was sometime ago. Shey you see as this life dey |

bassdow:thanks my lord…I really appreciate u big |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 9:55pm On Apr 10 |
codemaster2much:Most (if not all) MPPT charge controllers have at least a way to set custom parameters. So expect selectable and/ or Custom (often called USER) charging profiles |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by bassdow: 10:00pm On Apr 10*. Modified: 10:26pm On Apr 10 |
AyarmBoye:Abeg e never reach like that Joor. Mind you, you don't need spend much on charge controller especially since it's 12v. Just get a cheap one but should be MPPT. Also this battery 12v 2.5kwh depending on source is over 300,000 naira. If you really low on budget, would suggest you just buy a cheap used but still in good shape leadAcid battery of between 150,000 naira to 160,000 naira. Could be cheaper if lucky in good way. As for charge controller, ensure you buy a cheap USEd MPPT else you could end up sending money that would buy a hybrid inverter on charge controller. Only spend more on charge controller if you have plans for upGrade. |

bassdow:Thanks for your detailed suggestions…How do I know a good used battery sef? Do you have someone that sells good used batteries and MPPT charge controller?….Although I plan to buy brand new Gpower tubular ba3 before but I heard fake batteries full market…. I await your response sir…This heat is just too much and man has been on generator all this while… |

Good evening bosses, Please who can explain to me why lithium batteries charge faster than tubular batteries.. Thanks |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ksmart027(m): 12:57am On Apr 11 |
AyarmBoye:No matter what you do, don't buy lead acid battery in 2026 whether brand new or used. My 2 cents. |

ksmart027:I wonder why that giy is always fixated on tubular batteries. He always talks as if its only lithium batteries that have fakes and tubular doesn’t have |

| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by capnies: 7:55am On Apr 11 |
bassdow:Please which 12v controller accepts as much as 900w panel. What's the pv input? Most panels are high voltage panel. Parallel connections? I think most will be wasted, the controller will heat up and pack up faster |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by AyarmBoye(m): 9:24am On Apr 11 |
ksmart027:hmmmm….okay…just a question do we have external lithium battery charger aside the hybrid inverter or solar? |

Ezimuoh:i think he does that on purpose, to rage bait people into talking. |

mctfopt:As long as the heat sink is solid and can carry full capacity for hours without melting inner components. Some sensitive people get worried even by the slightest hummm of fans even if it's placed 4 rooms away. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ask4bk(m): 5:58pm On Apr 11 |
AyarmBoye:Even a 50w solar panel can charge your lithium battery if your load is just 20w or less and you've a charge controller that allows it. Panels being able to charge your battery depends on your load and only you know your load. We don't. If you use two 450w and then use load of 700w, it won't charge. |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Nobody: 6:18pm On Apr 11 |
Is there any solar of 100k or 200k naira please Needed urgently |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by AyarmBoye(m): 6:21pm On Apr 11 |
ask4bk:i understand as all the loads will be using the power the solar is generating…. I’m hardly at home during rhe day so no loads …. My question is what if the battery get full before I return home I hope the charge controller can cut of the supply to avoid overcharging of the battery? And what happens to the power the panel keeps generating when the battery is fully charged? |
| Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:48pm On Apr 11 |
AyarmBoye:The answer to all your question is actually in the name of the device- a solar charge controller. It literally means it'd control the charging coming in from your solar panels. That means once battery is full, it'd enter float (stop charging and maintain a particular pre defined voltage). |
