What Global Practice started in your country?

The corporate model of doing business started in England. Mass production also started in England.
My own country is Ijesa which was established in the Yoruba part of west Africa over one thousand years ago by Owa Obokun onida Arara an illustrious son of Oduduwa. Ijesa was for spells of time independent, it was also part of the Oyo empire for a time when the capital of the empire was at Oyo ile and it was also part of the Oyo empire headquartered at Ibadan before it became part of the British empire.

I am not conversant with most of Ijesa history because it is not taught in schools but from what is visible the biggest thing that was pioneered by the Ijesa that is used everywhere on Earth today is the Hire-Purchase system. The Ijesa merchants who pioneered the system earned the nickname Osoomalo for all Ijesa which the rest of the Yoruba still call us today. Osomaalo means I will not rise until I collect my money. Depicting the tug of war the merchants went through to collect their installments from people they sold merchandise to. The Ijesa went all over West Africa to ply this trade and they must have taken it to Brazil as well.
I do not know any direct ancestor of mine that was an Osomaalo but I heard that the person who became the head of our compound in Ere Ijesa after my late granddad was born by an Osomaalo. He was my granddad's cousin.

It is important for everybody to know that Hire-Purchase was not done anywhere on Earth before the Ijesa. The system was pioneered by the Ijesa and from there it went to the rest of the world.

What started in your country that is now practiced globally?

Afrobeats. Not to be mistaken with Fela’s Afrobeat. Fela innovated that.
