Nigerians and opposition parties did not learn from what happened in 2023 election concerning the INEC chairman that conducted 2023 election...they should had put pressure on the national assembly to amend the constitution to not to give powers for the president to appoint an INEC chairman

I am happy these conversations are beginning to emerge and gain strength. That is how democracy reforms society and develops it. It levels mountains and fills valleys to make for plain scenery.

To me citizenship advocacy for justice and equity is far, far more valuable than the temporary sentiment of winning or losing elections.

Question everything that is out if order for ten years and you get the nation moving.
Reform those things that are questioned for the next hundred years and you get a truly great nation that is comfortable within itself to go out there to be reckoned with in the world.

I have said this since this democracy started/restarted in 1999. Our leadership recruitment process has continued to churn out misfits at all levels because the electoral umpire is selected and appointed wrongly. To me this is a carryover from military rule and that portion of our Constitution needs to be amended.

We as a nation need to debate on and agree the modalities for appointing a totally neutral, apolitical and unaffiliated ombudsman to head the electoral process AND ensuring the extensive powers of a CEO first not apply to quasi government institutions.

No African can appoint a referee for a match he intends to participate in with justice in view. It is just not in our nature.
