Talks Are Over, Strait Of Hormuz Is Closed Iran Says by ManirBK(op): 12:13pm On Apr 12
Tensions between Iran and the United States have sharply escalated following the collapse of high-level negotiations in Islamabad, with Iranian officials declaring the talks a failure and insisting that key strategic decisions remain unchanged.

In a statement posted on Sunday, the Iran Embassy in Ghana signalled Tehran’s defiance after more than 20 hours of discussions with US representatives yielded no agreement.

“The US flew their Vice President halfway across the world to Islamabad. 21 hours of talks. They demanded everything they couldn't achieve through war. Iran said a BIG NO. The talks are over. The Strait is still closed. And the VP is flying home empty-handed. Just Iran's word. Again. They don't have any option left to save face,” the statement said.

The statement underscores Iran’s firm stance particularly regarding the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil transit route, which has remained a central point of contention between both nations.

On the American side, Vice President JD Vance, who led the US delegation to Pakistan, acknowledged that while discussions were extensive, they ultimately failed to produce a breakthrough.

“The simple fact is that we need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon,” Vance said on Sunday.

charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait — They better not be and, if they are, they better stop now!” he warned.

With negotiations now stalled and rhetoric intensifying on both sides, the outcome of the Islamabad talks appears to have pushed the crisis into a more precarious phase, raising fresh concerns over the prospects of renewed confrontation in the region.

Re: Talks Are Over, Strait Of Hormuz Is Closed Iran Says by Gotocourt: 12:22pm On Apr 12
The legal status of tolling in the Strait of Hormuz is complex and involves several international legal frameworks:
Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), coastal states cannot demand payment for passage through straits, including the Strait of Hormuz, simply for permission to transit.

Iran has proposed legislation to impose tolls on vessels passing through the strait, which would require ships to obtain permits and licenses, effectively creating a controlled transit system.

The proposed tolls could be as high as $2 million per ship, with revenue intended for rebuilding Iran following recent military actions.

However, the legality of such tolls is still under scrutiny, as UNCLOS explicitly prohibits charging fees for passage unless specific services are provided.

This situation raises significant questions about the legality and implications of tolling in a vital global shipping route.

Which resilience? The world (including me) desperately wanted to see what Trump would do. They denied us that by cowardly capitulating at the last minute

Israel alone can handle Iran

Trump should stop holding them back

Israel NEVER wanted the ceasefire in the first place
Re: Talks Are Over, Strait Of Hormuz Is Closed Iran Says by fineboynl(m):
the us should encourage the world to buy Venezuala oil, Nigeria oil and other country oil maybe a little discount to cover logistics difference from the hormuz route. They should tap on Africa oil to boost the continent revenue. Opec needs to reallocate oil to Africa and Venezusla.

leave the middle east oil.

another alternative for the middle east country is to bypass the Hormuz, open a canal.

Really? Israel tried to handle Iran alone last year June but after receiving devastating blows from Iran it had to run to America to help her secure a ceasefire.

If Israel could handle Iran alone Netanyahu would not have made several trip to the US since last year and up to this year lobbying Trump to help Israel start another war with Iran. In the war US is the horse while Israel is just a cat riding on the back of the horse and now that the horse itself is finding it difficult to subdue Iran it needed a ceasefire and asked the cat (Israel) to get down.

Israel the cat had no option than to step down cause it was only using the horse to cross bridges and rugged terrain it couldn't cross alone.

Now its over for democrat and iran.
This is what we call checkmate in chess grin.

Hormuz is block, hormuz is block. Iran is now a world power to the dustbin thread. Iran and Hormuz is finally over. Iran should better come up with something else because the Hormuz is no longer what their supporters want to hear grin but real military strength. Because i want to laugh really hard at head slammers and pro Iranian gringringrin

If them born Iranian well they should come to the open sea to confront the U.S navel. I want to check something.

This is a total blockage on iran.

The thing is why is America still talking about this nuclear deal

Does it mean after the freedom of war it waged in Iran with Israel it still can erase the nuclear

Then the war is a failure if you need deal, they are about to go another round to see who owns homuz and America navy would soon discover why others are not joining it

these are artificial canals, the countries or commissions that build them can toll them, there are laws guiding the passages…you don’t just push things to suite your narratives.

The UN is an hypocrite, doublemouthed and biased for telling Iran not to toll their own territorial water. The strait is 33km wide and every country have 22km as their coastal territorial water. Thus the strait of hormuz overlaps between Oman and Iran coastal water. Anyone shouting and making noise about the strait is just wasting time and unrealistic. I am sure it that Strait of Hormuz is in USA, Dumb Tariff Trumpet would have charge toll a very long time, bloody hypocrite and imperialist. You cant pass through my territory and go free of charge unless i want you to, if you dont like it you can pass another route afterall its a free world.

Let's even assume common sense is not common! Ain't you aware that Irans nuclear was destroyed ? Ain't you aware almost all their leaders & generals have been killed ? Ain't you aware that their present supreme leader has not made a public appearance & or made any reasonable statement for over a month ? Ain't you aware that their boastful generals roaming the streets few weeks ago have all been killed ? No single General of Israel has been injured talkess of being killed ! Are people blind or just defiant to information. Now I understand the true meaning of gullible people. SMH

Stop watching nonsense news on CNN, FOX and BBC news, they are biased and filter the truth always. Use your own intelligence and thinking. How will US block or stop ships from passing out of the Strait when 3 of the biggest aircraft have since fled the area due to multiple damages from Iranian missiles and are currently undergoing repairs. Dont believe all the nonsense and blabs of Dumb Trump, he cant dare try stop any ship. Iran is only currently respecting the ceasefire at the moment, once the ceasefire ends Iran missiles will destroy all the 3 naval destroyers US placed in the Strait and send them back to where they came from. US dont know who they are dealing with, you cant just bully and threaten everyone into submission as if every country is your kid.

No matter how you look at it the current Iranian Government being spearheaded by the IRGC is a crooked and evil government. Why did they shut out the citizens from the outside world if they have nothing to hide while slaughtering and executing their own people like fowls? Why is there no freedom for the press or opposition in Iran? I shudder when I see people defending this evil regime. A regime that uses her citizens as human shields while they hide in holes is nothing but an irresponsible one at best. Where are their leaders? If not for the plea by Pakistan and the American restraints on Israel their lying machine of a foreign minister and his ilks would be in the ground below now confirming of a truth that their pseudo 72 virgin is nothing but false.
