Iran’s strategy of trying to turn the Strait of Hormuz into an extortion scheme is a double edged sword that would not benefit the Iranians in the short and long term. For a few weeks while the world is seeking the most appropriate response to ease the economic pain, Iran may feel on top of the world.

The Strait bears as much import for Iran as its neighbours because it is the same route through which Iranian Oil exports and other imports including food, etc come through. If it is blocked such that Iranian vesels cannot pass, the Iranian economy will face strangulation and famine. Iran is heavily dependent on its Oil Exports and food imports. Once Iran is unable to get oil exports or funds to buy arms from China or Russia and the population are facing famine from lack of food imports, the days of the Iranian Regime and Ayatollah are automatically numbered.

I don't think he knows that it takes only one ship destruction to make every insurance company refuse to insure any vessel passing that strait or demand 300x premium which will ultimately increase global oil prices anyway.

The closure of the Straits of Hormuz is going to be a logistics Nightmare for Shippers. The problem here is the aggressor doesn't want to accept blame and definitely the Vice President would only tell the President what will make him feel like a Macho man.. This shit could go on for a long time, because the same way you are using Ukraine to fight a proxy war with Russia the same way Iran would be use by China. Seems like you haven't been following up then....Iran allows some countries to pass and they charge them as well while stopping US and her allies from using the straits....US creating a blockade will also stop both Iran and her allies from using the straits which means 50/50.

By US ships being there, even Iran oil can't pass, no oil money for them, the strait is being seized. Iran is not blocking it with any asset, just threatening that it has laid mines, your block head didn't read America were clearing the mines... strait is seized from iran Iran will be destroyed.
