“There are some situations one simply cannot be neutral about; because when you are neutral, you become an accomplice” – Christiana Anampour, CNN. For reasons too numerous to discuss, I had since my days in university vowed never to participate in politics by becoming a member of any political party. That should not be interpreted to mean that I was always neutral on issues concerning society over which politicians rule. In fact, there has never been a time when absolute neutrality was my stand. In the past, I had worked for Chief Awolowo and Buhari, Christian and Muslim, Yoruba and Fulani – on different occasions, based on my judgment, at the time, that they were the best presidential candidates.https://www.vanguardngr.com/2026/04/the-lights-of-democracy-are-going-out-in-nigeria-by-dele-sobowale/[b]

It was always clear that he was battling a chronic case of low self-esteem and imposter syndrome. The sycophantic "on your mandate" anthem, the false sense of megalomania, the hold on Lagos decades after governing, the level of covetousness, greed and self-angrandisement, etc. The signs of a budding dictator were always there. |

Just what I wrote in the former post that made it to FP. TPain should try being the only candidate in 2027 and he will see something When politicians do not learn, they tend to repeat the same thing again and again and they end up with the same unfornate violent result I hope they learn their lesson this time around |

"There are less than six democracies in the entire continent and Nigeria is about to reduce the number by one.'Nigeria is not about to be reduced it by one; it has already been reduced by one. What we are now is not a democracy |

AMINDA:The most astonishing case was him allowing wike to name the conference center in Abuja after him, just because they refurbished. Even babangida that built the place didn't name it after himself. Honestly the man has self esteem issues based on his lowly birth circumstances and wants to always put those fortunate to have come from affluence beneath him. |

Ofunaofu:Quite obvious that your perennial wailing from your Pdp days, now to your romance with the Adc has made u lose whatever was left over. To have your eyes 👀 blurred with bitter tears since 2015 cannot be a pleasant experience?, 11 Straight years of confusion, weeping, sobbing, crying, blubbering, wailing & tears 😭. |

OneCandleAway:On the anniversary of his first year in office, he unveiled the World's largest portrait at Eagle Square on June 12. It was a portrait of himself. It is also conspicuous that he has never mentioned Abiola or done anything for his legacy since assumption to power. Buhari did more for Abiola than the man who benefitted the most from his legacy.

GorillaApp:the crook already named 3 institutions in his name, I think there'd a military establishment he renamed after himself, a university in osun state and the international conference centre in Abuja, in addition to diverting almost 20% of Lagos to himself All these will be renamed when the new government comes in in 2027 I have never seen a self conceited and insatiable crook like this tinubu bar stard |

I say it again, Tinubu is worse than Abacha, he is more brutal and lives of Nigerian citizens mean nothing to him as long as he remains in power. But then, Abacha died! |

Thankfully this is coming from Dele Sobowale, a respected writer. If this came from a writer from the SE it would probably be waved aside as coming from a bitter Ipobian. But this is the true state of things. It's been almost three years of Tinumbu presidency. The economy remains in tatters, security is overwhelmed and electricity is worse than epileptic. Every single facet is worse than it was when Tinumbu took over. Occupy Ojota happened when we were by far better off but there's not a single noise now that our collective strangulation is almost killing us. The only good thing is that we are all in it together. |

The enemies of democracy do not believe in democracy. They will do their best to sabotage and undermine it. The irony is these are people who claimed to fight for democracy from the military. ![]() |

fergie001:He will not only attempt 3rd term, he will change from 4 years to 7 years. Nigeria capital will move from Abuja, Nigeria will become a policed state, agberos will become military police. We are moving towards Zaire, Sisi of Egypt, but like Yahyah Jammeh, he will be disgraced. ![]() |
