The United States is sending more than 10,000 additional troops to the Middle East before the end of April as Washington tries to increase pressure on Iran, US officials have told The Washington Post.

The newspaper, quoting current and former US officials speaking on condition of anonymity, reported on Tuesday that the US was sending about 6,000 troops on board the USS George HW Bush carrier and the ships escorting it to the region.

Approximately 4,200 other troops from the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and its embarked Marine Corps task force, the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, are expected to arrive near the end of the month, the report said.

It was previously announced that roughly 50,000 troops had been involved in operations in the war on Iran since its beginning on February 28.

With the looming arrival of the USS George HW Bush, which is reportedly sailing around Africa, the number of carriers in the region will reach three.

The USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald Ford are in the Middle East and participated in the fighting against Iran.

The report, which largely remains unverified , comes as the US pressed ahead on Wednesday with a naval blockade it said had cut off maritime trade with Iran.

How don’t you see that the US just got a new contract to secure passage of ships in the Arabian Sea, strait of Hormuz and Suez.
If I was the US I’ll sign a deal with Iran, a bit of racketeering, anyone who doesn’t pay will get their ships blown by the IRGC and together we make money.

US are too proud to do a deal and they know they are powerless when it comes to opening the Strait. Iran warned that this war is going to cause the world economic problems and US felt it was going to be one or two days war. Funny enough they all have to go back to the negotiation table while the Strait remains shut

The hypocrisy on the Strait of hormuz from Trump is disgusting. Gulf of America, Cuba blockade, Gaza blockade (supported by US). The waters of the strait of Hormuz fall within the 12 n miles for Oman & Iran. This is a claim used for water used on American shorelines!

There was never a ceasefire. There was just a temporary halt for the US to restrategize and wait for reinforcement.

Anybody who knows anything about Iran knows they will never capitulate to the US, and the US is now in a position where ending the war without a regime change or at least securing the 400 kg of enriched uranium will be regarded as a failure.

It is almost inevitable that this war will continue to escalate. There is a reason why all past US presidents have avoided Iran: because even with an inferior military, they have so many cards to play.
