rowlandwhy:Yes of course. A number of people do that with success stories. amnotapervert:You are always making this a big deal. It's not to genuine visitors. I didn't have to provide any information on "Why Canada?" I've also been involved in 2 other applications that booked hotel and applied as tourists and no thesis-like explanation. Just the usual explanation of purpose and planned activities similar to visa applications to other countries. One of them with few travel history to Europe came out in exactly 1 month while the other came out in less than 3 weeks (this one had active US visa though). |

I applied on the 2nd of March for a visit visa. I have 2 brothers who are Canadian citizens and Parents on a Grandparents visa. I work full time in Abuja with a good job and have no plans of seeking asylum. I have never been to Canada, my brothers usually come home to visit. All the deposits in my account are from my job(A Federal Govt Agency) They have a policy of only indicating Basic salary in Payslips. I have used this same payslip to apply for a UK visa which was granted. Please, the gurus in the House should advise on how I can appeal.

iyaoge24:I have few questions to ask you; 1.) Are you married? 2.) Did you submitted any documents to proof that you have strong ties to your country i.e *Marriage certificate *Children birth certificates *Registered company certificate or *Employment documents *Land survey/Government Approved Building plans/documents *Car papers e.t.c 3.) Apart from your salary, did your company made any unrelated salary payments into your account? 4.) The huge amount of money paid into account is for what purpose? 5.) Did you use an agent for your application or you do it yourself? |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by iyaoge24: 2:20pm On Apr 15 |
Clarapaul:No. I did not use any agent. I did everything all by myself. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by olasubomy: 3:34pm On Apr 15 |
iyaoge24:From the IRCC review notes, it appears the officer has raised some concerns regarding your home ties and whether you are genuinely visiting. Although you might genuinely intend to return to your job in Abuja, it is important to remember that the officers base their decision primarily on the information presented in your file. Given that you have two brothers who are citizens and your parents residing there on a super visa, the officer might be inclined to believe that these connections could motivate you to stay longer or potentially overstay your visa. To address these concerns, it would be beneficial to rework your Statement of Purpose or explanation letter, emphasizing your commitment to returning home and clarifying your intentions. • Home Ties -To help clarify your situation, I recommend reaching out to your colleagues in HR or a senior member of your organization in finance, depending on your internal process, to request a formal letter on company letterhead. This letter should detail your full salary structure, especially if your offer letter does not already include this information. It is important that the amounts reflected in your bank statements are clearly explained and correspond with your supporting documents. If there are additional inflows in your bank account aside from employment, please ensure these are also thoroughly explained with proof since the officer needs verifiable evidence. • On the issue of being genuine visitor – I am not sure how you worded your purpose of visit. Apart from intending to visit your sibling, you can strengthen your explanation by mentioning other activities you intend to do during your stay. For example, you could highlight some tourist attractions you plan to visit demonstrating you have researched the city and province you will be traveling to. Including details such as the places you want to see, their locations, and how far(in kilometers) they are from where you will be staying can show the officer that you have thoughtfully planned your trip. You can itemize your itinerary and break down in days. It is also helpful to express your passion for visiting these places—maybe mention why these sites are meaningful to you or what excites you about experiencing them. When officers see you have done your homework and have a genuine interest in your destination, it creates a positive impression and shows your understanding of where you are going. Cheers! |

Hi everyone, I had applied for a Canadian visa with my wife 10 years ago and got rejected (our fault, we did not put complete documentation). I am planning to apply again but it seems the system has changed compared to when we last applied. I know I’d stay my application not the Canada website but I’d like to see an end to end process. Pp I plan to travel to Canada in August so o should have applied by now. However, I am going to Ghana on the 1st of May and to Gabon. Y mid May so I cannot submit my passport until end of May. 1. If I apply now, when do I need to submit my passport? Is it when the application is submitted or when visa is approved? 2. When do I need to submit my documents?during online application or when I submit my passport? 3. When would I be invited for biometrics? Immediately after submitting the application, in between or when visa is approved? 4. Is there any other thing I need to know? PS: I appreciate all the support given to me but responses should be on this thread. I’d not respond to any dm or any requests to act as agent, I have never used an agent to apply for visa and I’d never ever do so. Thank you in advance |

zainjok567:Firstly, what reason did you previously state for being non-accompanying when she applied for PR? Secondly, how do you intend to prove proof of funds if she is not working full-time, especially since her income can hardly take care of her and the child Also, you know that in a spousal application, she has to sign an undertaking to support you so proof of financial stability is very important. |
| Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by amnotapervert(m): 5:01pm On Apr 16 |
iguita:(1) Welcome to the digital world hahahah I still remember days of paper and you link your application online to track it but now in 2026 You submit your passport only after approval IRCC will send you a Passport Request (PPR) That’s when you send your passport for visa stamping. (2) Everything has changed its all online and all documents are submitted online yes I know technology right hahaha (3) so after you submit your application and pay fees You will receive a Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL) Usually it Comes within a few hours to a few days after submission You then book an appointment at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/can (4) well you need to understand why your visa was rejected 10 years ago which I believe you have now which is good also as fastcars0000 said in an early post you need to give IRCC more documents and information that you think is needed... they are quicker to reject that 10 years ago make sure to Show strong home ties (job, business, family, assets) and also avoid inconsistencies or using fake documents IRCC eye dey red wish you all the best |

Good Morning everyone, I know Visit Visa applications are now like 'war front' situations but let's not lose hope, in order to lift the mood in the thread I will like to share some of my observations from my latest refusal. They now send a letter know as OFFICER DECISION NOTE (ODN): this serves like a GCMS note. It contains a break down of what led to the Visa Officer's decision of Visa refusal. I'm not aware if GCMS notes are now cancelled nor what they might now contain but ODN serves as a detailed explanation. The ODN is sent together with the Generic refusal letter. Another observation I made while re-applying yesterday is that Documents attachments now allow up to 5mb in size. When I applied in March, it was 2mb and I had to compress some of my documents, but since its now 5mb, it was easy to upload. For the past 1 month, the processing time for Nigeria has continued to drop. As at 15/04/2026 it is now 42days. Some of us who applied in 2023 can testify that this is a miracle, applications back then took over 7months in some cases. Lets hope they continue to improve their efficiency in processing . |

olasubomy:Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I followed each of your points and made the necessary adjustment to my SOP and Financial Explanation Letter. I also got a letter headed letter from my HR stating its a policy within the Organization that only basic salary is listed on payslips but a list of annual entitled emolument was attached to the letter. In fact while crafting my Financial Explanation letter, I assumed the Visa officer is a l*zy idi*t tongue and I carefully took out time to even draw out a table to reference the credits from my employer in my bank statement, so he/she can see that the bulk credit transactions they referenced in the previous refusals are all remitted from same source as my salary and carry same remittance code. (This was what I assumed the Visa Officer would be able to notice themselves) In my SOP, I stated that me having family members in Canada is something I have no control over as they chose to settle down in Canada after graduation but I live a comfortable life in Nigeria and I am not willing to throw it away to become an illegal immigrant in Canada. In all, I hope for a favorable outcome this time. |

Thank you very much. Like I mentioned, I know why my last application was rejected. I applied without having the full support documents. I was going for a conference and I did not know the venue of the conference, I just knew it was Ontario. My sponsors were booking my hotel and they had not do so, they had not even sent me invitation. I applied because then it took three months to get visa, conference was 2 months away. I believe I had more ties now than I had back then. I have a valid US visa now, did not have any then. I go to the US annually and return. I’d go ahead and put in my application then. amnotapervert: |

Goodday House, I had a Visit visa and travelled with it, but now expired and wishes to reapply and children had be denied before in their previous seperate application that did not allow them travel with parent at the time. Now in trying to Reapply for the Visit visa is it Advisable Mother and children apply together or seperately and what can help support proof that we intend to return after our visit . Ps: Have step kids studying in canada. Thanks |

iyaoge24:No worries! Regarding your statement per bolded – immigration authorities usually require clear evidence that directly correlates with the inflow shown in a bank statement. While a payslip would have been the preferred document, it appears your full payroll information isn’t available there. You will need to request some correspondence from your office that outlines your payroll structure. This should provide a summary calculation, including your Basic Pay plus Allowances, with statutory deductions subtracted, and resulting in your Net Pay. Be sure to let your office know that this is specifically for immigration purposes, so they understand the importance of providing a detailed breakdown. All the best! |

Shofat4real:No one knows you better than you know yourself. Create an online account and apply. https://ircc.canada.ca/english/information/applications/visa.asp It’s a step-by-step process just like creating any account. You will answer questions truthfully based on what is asked of you. After that, the system will tell you which documents you need to upload. At the end of the process, you will make payment. Keep in mind that you must be able to prove everything you claim. For example, if you state that you attended school from a certain year to another year, you should provide evidence. or you said you have a business you should show evidence...... Also include proof of employment, savings or business accounts, and tax returns you know your situation best. Once you submit your application and pay the fees, you will receive a Biometrics Instruction Letter (BIL). This usually comes within a few hours to a few days after submission. You can then book an appointment at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/can Please do not pay anyone for assistance. You know yourself better than any agent on Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, or Nairaland. Asking for general help can sometimes attract the wrong people. I beg you do not pay anyone. Again, do not pay anyone. You can do this yourself you are more capable than you think. If you have questions during the process, feel free to ask here. Someone will guide you openly. Once again, do not pay anyone for anything.

olasubomy:Thank You, they did so and attached it to the Letter headed document from HR. It included my Basic Pay plus each allowance I receive per annum and their respective figures. Also included was the list of statutory Tax deductions and contributions remitted from my monthly earning. Thank you ![]() |

iyaoge24:Great! Include a dedicated subheading in your letter of explanation specifically for "Previous Canada Refusal." Directly reference the officer to the concerns highlighted in their ODN notes and explain how your circumstances have changed since then. Make sure to clarify the inflows in your bank statement and guide the officer to the exact section of your IRCC portal where they can review supporting documents. Each support document should be identified with its file name before uploading, and that file name should be mentioned in your letter to make it easy for the officer to locate. Also, be sure to provide a more detailed explanation of your purpose of visit in your letter, something to show you have good understanding of the city. For proof of funds, remember that the required amount depends on the duration of your stay, but it is highly recommended to have extra buffer cash. For example, if 50% of your funds cover your stay, have at least extra 50% or more as a cushion. This demonstrates to the officer that you are not emptying your account for the trip and that you have financial stability back home. Good luck! |
