MASSIVE PROGRESS! THE ILESA-IFE-IBADAN HIGHWAY IS CHANGING BEFORE OUR EYES!

If you’ve traveled the Ibadan-Ife-Ilesa road recently, you’ll know this isn't just a "patch-up" job. We are witnessing a total transformation as the Federal Government’s 108km concrete road revolution hits high gear!
I’ve been on the ground to track exactly how far we’ve come. Here is the latest update you need to know:

📍 THE ILESA/IWARAJA END: Construction has advanced significantly from the Iwaraja Junction. We are now over 40 kilometers in, and the concrete paving is almost at the Ile-Ife Junction!
Clearing is currently ongoing at the Ife end to make way for the pavers.

📍 THE IBADAN/IKIRE END: It’s happening at both ends! Work is pushing hard from Ibadan toward Ife. Concrete paving is already achieved on several sections, and clearing has reached all the way to Ikire on one carriageway.

Why this matters? We are moving away from asphalt that washes away after one rainy season. This is Rigid Pavement (Concrete), built to last 50 years! No more deep potholes, just smooth, durable road for our traders, students, and travelers.

Why are we celebrating roads in 2026? I know people will insult me, but common!

Just do the roads, and let the citizens have a fair shot at life. Why the celebration? Are you using personal funds?

PS: Una don curse me taya. Una don label me Igbo.

Gbogbo yin, eshe ooo. Eku Ife.

Long overdue. One is in the hope that a quality job will be done this time! The last time it was done one big traditional ruler whose domain the road is named after cornered the contract and did a shoddy job. One day I was co-traveller on that road with the said traditional ruler seated in his Rolls Royce filled with throw pillows and the driver virtually driving on the brakes as he had to stop now and then because of the failed portions of the road which were numerous! I said to myself that he is eating the fruit of his corrupt conduct and lifestyle. Many citizens have perished on that road in avoidable accidents traceable to the poor job done on the road and their blood cries for vengeance! I wish the whole stretch will be done in concrete and properly too so a minimum of 50 years of smooth ride can be guaranteed on the Ife-Ibadan Road! Awolowo did that!

President Tinubu and his minister, David Umahi dey try for this road.

Hopefully it's finished ontime.

This is a very unfair statement. Let's not always try to politicize everything.
They are doing a great job and that is all to it.
Your comment is very dubious to say the least.

That section is concrete because Umahi changed it to concrete, they started the project during the last administration of fPMB.

Is a very good something

But my advice to the government His Excellency our National Daddy, Daddy President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is that Daddy should prioritise linking the whole Nigeria by railway

Railway is cheaper and more efficient for the movement of bulk goods and mass transportation. Road is costlier in the long run, highly inefficient, time wasting, energy wasting, and leads to excessive wear and tear

Thank you, Daddy

He is correct. Not every stretch is done in concrete. Some are patched and will soon go bad before the rains are over in a few months because, as usual, they are doing a poor job and it is not concrete everywhere. The FMW officials who issue completion and payment certificates to the contractors will reap the fruits of their evil labour as the blood of folks who have died on that road in avoidable accidents traceable to the bad road works cry out for vengeance!

But when Alex Otti built a gutter for your type in Abia, you nearly declared a public holiday.

The problem you have is that generational wickedness has made you unable to appreciate good things. That was how you guys were insulting the SS people when Akpabio was made SP and when they started the Calabar end of the Coastal road.

You are disadvantaged hypocrites.

Don’t let hatred and bitterness to kee you. Ask your brothers in Europe, they celebrate roads and bridges here. I have been to at least two bridge openings where Owambe party was thrown.

Note that this doesn’t mean that Nigeria’s politicians are doing well, no, na Ogun go kee all of them.

Akpabio was an uncommon Governor. He did marvellously well as Akwa Ibom Governor. Fantastic Julius Berger roads. I enjoy riding on those roads!
