As part of our sustained efforts to eliminate open defecation and improve public sanitation across Lagos State, we currently have 1,710 functioning public toilets strategically located across the state for residents and visitors.Tokunbo Wahab Lagos State Commissioner for Environment & Water Resources

No banks or eateries will allow Lagos agberos to start invading their business premises to poo and pee. If the government wants business owners to open up their business for agberos to poo and pee, they should open the Government House for the same purpose first. |

Always looking for how to shift responsibility... As if they would give any incentives to pay cleaners or to pack the bank's soak away every 3 days. We have useless governments that we benefit absolutely nothing from. What is the use of government when people provide every single amenity and security they require - to loot? |

Another glaring failure of government to provide basic infrastructure such as public toilets to the people. To provide -healthcare, people use private because public health care is not adequate to take care of people -electricity, people provide their own generators because light is not 24/7, is epileptic and the fees are banditry across Bands A to Z -roads, people spend hours in traffic, pour sand on the road because governrmes don't maintain roads, don't even build and give us signs, pedestrian walkways, covered manholes, or covered drainages -potable water, people buy pure water or dig bore hole but the government wants to tax them despite not supplying water to people -infrastructure, people create their own luxury or japa -education, people go to private schools, go abroad while public schools are behind -social welfare? You are not doing your work as government but you are so shameless, you have the effrontery to challenge them to do your work. What is wrong with our people? Don't let these guys get away with this nonsense! In some countries you japa to, the government opens spaces or libraries for people to stay in when it is cold. They have bathrooms or at least toilets with water there. Common! ![]() |

True, but the government needs to do more. 1,710 toilets is not enough for over 20 million people, that's a joke. Another bad joke is the maintenance. If you go to international airports, you'll understand what maintenance is. Public toilets don't have to be disease traps and smelling like hell. |

SmartPolician:Your last sentence is quite intelligent. The simplest thing for them to do is build toilets and employ cleaners . Even if it means paying 50 Naira to use them |

Lagos State government, is this an advice or an enforcement? Maintenance costs of those toilets opened to the general public will go higher. Will the State government consider some tax waivers to the companies willing to lend their toilets to public use? |
