Please who knows how to expedite 309/100 visa ? It’s been 18 months I applied and no grant yet. Been married for three years known each other for five years and we have kids together and they are over there. Any help please
There is no option or way to fast track except you have a cogent reason why they should attend to it. You can give them a call every 2 weeks to ask for an update.

Hello, please can you tell me how to go about the 491 visa do I need to apply for care job first to secure this visa or I get the visa first, find my way into the country and get a care job?
Care job is not available under 491. You will need an employer to sponsor you for care work

26th of January was Australia Day but tends to not celebrate it anymore.
This is inaccurate.

Australia Day is still celebrated and is a national holiday. However, some people choose not to celebrate it.

Hi I'm also a UK trained RMN. I'm having second thoughts on moving to AUS.

Are u much happier in AUS in terms of your mental health than the UK? Have you notice any any politics/bullying on the wards in AUS like the UK NHS wards? How are you dealing with the housing crisis in AUS? Houses seems expensive in AUS. I hate the cold miserable UK weather but people are saying the AUS hot weather is much harsher than any other country. Is this true? They say the AUS sun burn/sting your skin. Do you have to use sun cream outside during summer in AUS?
I can confirm there is a housing crisis in almost all major cities of Australia. There are hundreds of applicants per rental and rent is high (average $500 - $700 per week). Minimum wage by comparison averages $800 per week after tax.

The weather depends on what part of the country you are in. The southern states are cooler. The further north you go, the hotter it gets.

Summer can be scorching hot in northern states and yes, the sun is intense, so sunscreen is recommended if spending more than 5-10 minutes in the sun.
Summer temperature in Queensland for example, averages 30-40 degrees celsius. Hotter than that is not uncommon, but rarely lasts for more than a day or two.

Nigerians would probably not find the temperature in most places in Australia too hot.

I can go on and on with my skills so please what other route can I go through if not student route?
Any help please 🙏

Hello everyone, My name is Siya, and I am a foodie. I recently moved to Melbourne. I like to visit new places. Recently, I started ordering food from a food van. I recommend everyone should order from that food truck to support them, as they offer fresh food at affordable prices.

Good evening everyone.
Pls im a Nigerian Radiographer due to end internship this month.
I’d love to relocate to Australia but I’d love to ask the wonderful health workers here something.
Do I need to write exams?
And is my one year of internship sufficient to relocate?
Would a budget of 10-15m also be enough?
Thanks.

Radiography is a hot cake occupation however you need at least 2-3 years experience post internship to assess. You cannot assess yet since you don't have independent practice. All the details are here

Good morning, I Just got my visa grant (Subclass 500) 🙏🏽🎉 and I’m preparing for the big move to Australia soon.

I’d really appreciate insights from those already in Australia (students, PRs, citizens) anyone with real experience. I want to get things right from the start.
1. Pre-arrival preparation
What are the most important things I should sort out before leaving Nigeria? Anything you wish you knew before arriving?

2. What to pack (very important)
What are the must-bring items from Nigeria that are either:
Hard to find in Australia
Very expensive over there
Clothes, shoes, gadgets, documents, personal items, what should I prioritise?

3. Food & Provisions
As a Nigerian, I know food adjustment can be real.
What Nigerian food items are worth bringing?
Which ones are easily available in Australia?
What did you regret not bringing?

4. Restricted & Prohibited Items
I’ve heard Australian Border Force is very strict.
What food items are NOT allowed into Australia?
What must be declared at the airport?
Any mistakes people commonly make that I should avoid?

5. Settling in (First 2–4 weeks)
What should I focus on immediately after arrival?
Getting a bank account(if applicable)
Finding part-time jobs
Transportation setup

6. Cost of Living Reality
For someone just landing:
How much should I realistically budget monthly?
Any tips to survive the first few months financially?

7. Jobs & Survival Tips
How easy is it to get a first job (especially for students)?
Best kinds of jobs to start with?
Any platforms or strategies that actually work?

8. General Advice 🙏🏽
If you could start over again as a new immigrant in Australia, what would you do differently?
I’m open to all advice good, bad, honest. No sugarcoating please 🙌🏽

Thanks in advance as I prepare for this new chapter 🇦🇺✨

I don't think I'm in a better position to advise you on the course to go for. As for the requirements, you need your degree certificate, academic transcripts, Test of English (IELTS or PTE) if your school demands for it, CV. These are the docs i used during mine.

1. Pre-arrival preparation
What are the most important things I should sort out before leaving Nigeria? Anything you wish you knew before arriving?

Driving licence.
You need to drive everywhere.

Go online to your state Main roads website to start the online sessions to learn the road rules, and also you need to convert your licence after 3 months

2. What to pack (very important)
What are the must-bring items from Nigeria that are either:

None that I can think of, maybe Chinese balm as it is cold season. and try get flu shot/vaccine , it is free.
Also get some warm clothing too (Sweater weather).
If you ear in Australian dollars (aud), these things are not expensive (Clothes, shoes, gadgets, documents, personal items), in my opinion.
What do you mean by document?
Anyways:
1. Driving Licence
2. Educational Quals.
3. Employment related documents and CV.

drvigvisions
As a Nigerian, I know food adjustment can be real.
What Nigerian food items are worth bringing?

Nothing. Not worth it in my humble opinion.
As our meals are also heavily influenced by western society, you can get almost everything in regular supermarkets.
Semolina is available, so also Okra. Rice is dirt cheap, Can-tomato and Can-brown beans goes for $1. Various varieties of bread, egg, milk, beef, chicken, pork.
So, what do you want to bring?
Please don't pack meat on your fight.
Depending on how big the city you are moving to, you would find African shops, and the Nigerian and African community can link you to African food.
Kindly join the African and Nigerian community WhatsApp group in your city.

6. Cost of Living Reality
For someone just landing:

The lucky country is not so lucky anymore.
Rent is minimum of $400 weekly. this will be your biggest bill.
I don't know how you will cope if you have no base (family, friends or job) on ground currently and get first rent.
Usually, people get together to rent a house. it is the affordable way.
Next transport -
Groceries - $150 - $300 monthly.
Water bill.
Electric bill.
Internet.
A slab of piss.

$1000 Australian monthly maybehuh

For rental listings

7. Jobs & Survival Tips
How easy is it to get a first job (especially for students)?
Best kinds of jobs to start with?
Any platforms or strategies that actually work?

As a student, retail jobs, like stacking shelves in coles or woolsworth.
https://au.seek.com/student-part-time-jobs
Working at restaurants or at warehouses.
Again, it depends on the city. the bigger and more urban the city, the better the chances.

8. General Advice 🙏🏽
If you could start over again as a new immigrant in Australia, what would you do differently?
I’m open to all advice good, bad, honest. No sugarcoating please 🙌🏽

Come 10 - 40 years ago when things were cheaper. cheesy cheesy cheesy
Be careful of cities you move to as the loneliness and vast nothiness is real. The country is predominantly white, and they won't talk nor associate with you.
Hence staying in a big urban city is important as they are multicultural and diverse.
Regional cities in my humble opinions are for families, and not for young single people most especially one new to the country.
Try to engage in a hobby, soccer, tennis etc. It helps.

Thanks in advance as I prepare for this new chapter 🇦🇺✨
