I applied for UK visit visa middle of last year but I was rejected.I was indisposed for about four months so I couldn't go to Lagos to collect my passport. Now this year I want to apply to another country but UK embassy are insisting that my passport have been sent to Abuja immigration office because I failed to come and collect it on time.I have confirmed from an immigration officer in Abuja that no passport of such nature was sent to them.Yet this people are still insisting that's it in Abuja immigration office. I don't know what to do anymore. I would have applied for a new passport but passport are now expensive to process. Please what should I do? |

Goodlordwoodliu:To resolve this, formally contact the Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Lagos where you originally submitted your application to track the passport's location. If they confirm it is officially lost or cannot be located, you must file a formal complaint with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) and subsequently report the passport as lost to the Nigerian Immigration Service to apply for a replacement BLOCK ANYBODY THAT CLAIM TO BE ME IN YOUR DM PLEASE 🥺🙏 |

![]() Let them give you the name of the courier that it was sent with, so that you can trace it with them... It is possible it might have been sent, trust Nigerian immigration at your own peril.. When Oyinbo man say good morning, you don't need to go outside and check, nah true dem talk... Nigeria immigration might have lost it, or the perdon who recieved it might have misplaced it, without handing it over to the next person who took over from him or her, no organisation in Nigeria |

Na Nigerian Immigration go misplace the passport. Save yourself all the stress and do another passport. |
| Re: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by CaptainFM1: 8:29pm On Apr 19 |
Goodlordwoodliu:Calm down. They cannot seize your passport. They can only keep it. The passport is the property of Nigeria Government. |
| Re: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by buygala(m): 8:29pm On Apr 19 |
Report it lost and get a police report to that effect and apply for another instead of all this stress .... Another advantage of getting a police report for its loss is so that if the passport ends up being used for illegal purposes or dropped at a crime scene, that report can be your saving grace. Do this ASAP to avoid "had I known" Bye |

Like someone said ,declare it lost and apply for another one. How could you left something like that for good 120 days. They might seen you as unserious and discarded it |
| Re: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by BrickandLace(f): 8:33pm On Apr 19 |
They can't tell you they shredded it. Sue them and cash out |

| Re: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by enuelsmith: 8:34pm On Apr 19 |
It was clearly stated in the pickup notice issued to you that any applicant who fails to collect his or her passport within 30 days will have the passport forwarded to the Nigeria Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Nigeria Immigration Service. The UK Embassy will not seize your passport, as it remains the property of the Nigerian Government Goodlordwoodliu: |

TruthReaper:why the question please? |
| Re: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by IyaTola: 8:36pm On Apr 19 |
Goodlordwoodliu:This sounds frustrating—and unfortunately, situations like this usually come down to miscommunication between the visa application center and immigration offices. The key is to stop relying on verbal assurances and push for documented proof and traceability. Here’s how to approach it step by step: 1. Identify exactly who handled your passport For UK visas in Nigeria, applications are typically processed through UK Visas and Immigration, but passport collection is handled by a third-party center like TLScontact (not the embassy directly). You need to confirm which center you used in Lagos. 2. Demand written confirmation (not verbal) Contact the visa application center (likely TLScontact Lagos) and request: - The date your passport was transferred - The destination office (they claim Abuja) - A dispatch or tracking reference number - The name of the receiving office or If they cannot provide a tracking number or official record, that’s a red flag. 3. Escalate formally If they keep insisting without proof: A. File a written complaint through UK Visas and Immigration complaints process B. Also escalate through the TLScontact complaint channel Be firm: ask for documentary evidence of transfer. 4. Contact Abuja immigration properly You already spoke to someone informally. Now: I Write a formal letter/email to Nigeria Immigration Service Abuja office Include your full name, passport number, and visa application details II Ask them to confirm in writing whether they received your passport. This written denial (if they confirm they don’t have it) becomes very powerful. 5. Use that written evidence to push back If Abuja immigration confirms they don’t have it: 1. Send that response back to TLScontact/UKVI 2. Request an internal investigation or replacement process 6. Consider a police report (if necessary) If your passport is effectively “missing,” you may need to: File a report for a lost/misplaced passport This can support applying for a replacement with Nigeria Immigration Service, even though it’s costly. 7. About applying to another country Most embassies will require a valid passport, so unfortunately you won’t be able to proceed without resolving this or replacing it. If neither side can produce proof, your passport may genuinely be lost in the system. At that point, replacing it—though expensive—might be the fastest way forward. |

enuelsmith:The processing was through an agent.Possibly why I didn't see that part. |
| Re: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by Hangulsaram: 8:39pm On Apr 19 |
Goodlordwoodliu:That is the normal thing, go to Nigeria immigration or ministry of interior you will get your Passport there. |
| Re: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by femi4: 8:40pm On Apr 19 |
Goodlordwoodliu:You are careless..you left your passport with immigration for four months You better go and do another one under stolen/misplaced passport category in abuja |
| Re: UK Embassy Has Seized My Passport! by WorldRichest: 8:42pm On Apr 19 |
Goodlordwoodliu:. I thought you were angry and that is why you didn’t go to collect your Passport, now they too are angry and have refused to give you. 1 - 1 Goalless Draw. When these youths post of social media, they think that only those at their IQ level are reading. What is the meaning of “I was indisposed for about four months ……”? Now the Embassy too is indisposed for the next 5 years. My advice; go and swear to an affidavit that you have lost your Passport and go apply for a new one before the Passport Office too becomes “indisposed” |

Please the title does not reflect the content provided. The passport belongs to the government and would be sent back if you refuse to pick it up as at when due. Go to the immigration office and collect it since you have that information. Stop blaming the UK government for your lapses. |

Goodlordwoodliu:Why are you stressing yourself, apply for another one, by declaring the previous one missing. |
