I want to know how i can control this urge. I drink at least two pet bottles in a day. If i don't take it in a day, I won't be myself. How do I curb this behavior? I tried looking away, discipline myself but it is not working. |

OP, it's simple. How would you like your diabetes? Because with that much sugar, you'll be eating zero sugars son and treating sores that'll never heal. The urge needs a brain rewiring. You need to exchange the habit with an healthier alternative. Try to cut it down to one bottle first - drink half half. Drink water more. The day you drink more than one, force yourself to trek home. Try Zobo instead too - from reasonable makers, not the wereys who use artificial sweeteners. |

daylay7:Start a documented 90 days challenge of no carbonated drink. Buy a water bottle and fill it early in the money and focus on drinking it per day. When you wake up say I will drink lots of water today, read a lot about the benefits of drinking water and the dangers of drinking carbonated drinks. Tell everyone around you that for the next 90 days you won't drink any carbonated drinks and if anyone catches you drinking it your penalty is let's say 7500 naira |

daylay7:I was also like this for a while till I decided to change and now I seldom take carbonated drinks like Coke, Pepsi or Fanta. You're consuming 1 liter i.e. 50cl x2 daily, that's very dangerous if you continue. It can cause diabetes, obesity, weak bones and teeth, even kidney & liver damage. If you observe your body well, you're probably bloated already. The best step to take is to reduce it gradually. Instead of taking 2 bottles of pepsi daily, reduce it to 1 bottle a day. After one week, try going a few days in the week without taking it, maybe 2-3 days off within the week. Then try to stop it permanently. Note: You will have sugar & caffeine cravings, but you have to fight it off, so drinking water would help in this aspect as well. Please take your health serious. Prevention is better than cure. Shalom! 🙏🏽 |

The sugar + caffeine combination is what makes it genuinely addictive — it's not just habit. The crash after a bottle triggers the craving for another. So willpower alone struggles because your body is actually responding to a blood sugar dip. Practical approach that works for most people: don't go cold turkey. Replace one bottle per day with sparkling water for two weeks. Your brain gets the fizzy sensation, which handles part of the craving. Then reduce from there. Also drink a full glass of plain water before you reach for the Pepsi. Half the time thirst is just thirst and the Pepsi craving fades. Takes about 3 weeks to noticeably weaken the pull. |

Just replace with a Healthy dopamine stimulating activity Its mostly dopamine versus dopamine There's an experiment in which someone with a smoking addiction went to see a Psychiatrist(it's not only for mad people) and he recommended that Everytime he smokes, he should drink a can of soda. The Smoking addict started doing that and after a while, the Psychiatrist told him that whenever he felt the urge to smoke, he should drink a can of soda. He drastically stopped smoking . He had made Drinking Soda a high dopamine activity as Smoking, so drinking soda stimulated the dopamine secretion his brain was used to. But, he later died of diabetes after many years because he replaced the smoking with an unhealthy activity. That's why I am recommending a healthy dopamine activity like say, jogging. Start jogging in the mornings while holding a bottle of Pepsi with you for a while. Drink from it at intervals during your jogging. It ticks the healthy balance as jogging keeps you fit and healthy and helps in blood flow. After a while, whenever you feel the urge to drink Pepsi, just jog a little, it should fix the cravings ! Or Exercising, Going to the gym, etc,... Healthy Activities |

I don’t know how you can. But start by drinking 1 bottle instead of two a day. Drink that one bottle several times a day. Don’t consume the entire bottle at once. |

Whenever you are craving Pepsi, your body is craving for sugar. You are prone to diabetes. Go and conduct A1C blood test on yourself to know if you are non diabetic, pre-diabetic or diabetic. Sugar craving is a big sign of insulin resistance. I am not a doctor, it happened to me and I discovered after sugar craving nearly killed me. I am up and running now. You are a very observant person. Go for A1C glucose test and thank God later. Additionally, insulin resistance can have you craving carbs and sweets that instantly spike your blood sugar. If you've been experiencing strong food cravings lately — especially for sweets — make an appointment with a diabetes specialist to undergo blood testing. |
