Iranian forces launched drone strikes Sunday on multiple American vessels in retaliation for US forces firing on and intercepting an Iranian ship, according to local media.

The semi-official news agency Tasnim reported that after US forces boarded the container ship TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman, Iranian drones were launched against American vessels, without specifying whether the targets were military or commercial.

Iran had confirmed earlier that US forces seized the Iranian vessel and warned that it would retaliate “soon” following the move, which it called a violation of a Pakistan-brokered two-week ceasefire that has largely held since it was announced on April 7.

Fars News Agency, also semi-official, reported that the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said US forces had targeted the vessel, disabled its navigation system and boarded it after what it described as a ceasefire violation.

Ship tracking data shows the TOUSKA departed Port Klang in Malaysia on April 12.

Iranian military spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari said US forces opened fire at the vessel before boarding it.

The incident was first announced by US President Donald Trump on Sunday and later confirmed by US Central Command (CENTCOM), which said the USS Spruance intercepted the Iranian-flagged cargo ship, which attempted to breach a US naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman.

You want Iran to sit down and negotiate with you and you still attacked them and seized their ship, won't that undermine the current diplomatic efforts to end the war

Iran has said it will not send any delegation to Pakistan this time for talks with US

I know the game Trump is trying to play. He's trying to end the war on a high note for US since he knows every reasonable feels that US has so far lost the whole debacle with Iran. Trump's ego may actually force him to attack Iran and of course, he would be hailed by some unthinking heads. At the end of the day, it would be yet another country that US attacked and US finally lost.

Last week, 4 civilian cargo ships from China landed in Iran. They turned off their transponders. If this war gets hot more than it already is, the Americans will find nasty surprises waiting for them.
The Chinese are excited because they are finally getting the opportunity to train their anti-air systems on American fighter jet radar signatures. That's invaluable intel.

The cargo ship seized by US is still under their custody while Iran retaliatory strike caused minor damages to US vessel and US is still in control of their ship.

Smile part two want to start but this time Iran can be hit very hard because US forces and weapons have been prepared for a fresh war.
But I only hope that things do not escalate beyond this. It's not about who is winning or losing but about innocent lives and those that this war will impact directly and indirectly.
