Hi everyone, please I am looking forward to applying for PR and I want to know the best time. I have a BSC and MBA, and my profession is in project management. I was hoping to apply before I clock 30 so my age will at least increase my points, and it seems I may not be able to meet up because I plan to use the French route. Someone reffered time to Alliance but their classes is 1 year for evening classes. Please, do I still go on with Alliance or get a private tutor that can help in six months, so I can enter the pool on time. I want to go with my husband. Should he also write French exam? I am the principal applicant though. Please what do you advise?
Please I’ll appreciate any resources that can help me pass the French language exam. Thank you

I'm going to hazard a guess, you're never going to learn French in 6 months never mind pass the language test. The only way you'd even be done with A2 in 6 months is if you enrol in intensive classes i.e 3 hours a day, 5 days a week . A1 is 120 hrs of study A2 is 120, B1 is 180hrs, B2 is 240hrs.

There is no realistic way you're done in 6 months, tutors are not a shortcut either, most tutors especially Nigerian ones you find randomly on the Internet couldn't pass the exam themselves it's just a money grab, your brain needs to not only adjust, it needs to override the English language and your natural reflexes to think in English. There's no way you're passing the French Exam if you think in English, translate to French. You're not overcoming decades of conditioning in 6 months. The exception been you're a genius or an unusual flair for languages.

If you truly need a working strategy to pass French if you're only attending evening classes not giving it your full attention, holding down a full time job you're going to need close to 2 years, the 6 Months has no basis in reality.

Best strategy, since you're married the lower earning spouse quits and devotes his/herself fully to the French attends the intensive class to B2 for a year, 2-3 months for exclusive exam prep you might be able to achieve it in 14 months.

General disclaimer I don't send DM's I don't read them either and there are scammers on the loose in this thread. I will answer questions here

Thank you for the realistic response. Saw a YouTube video of an Indian that studied 4 hours daily yet had to take the exam three times before she could pass. This is is after immersing herself through movies etc and 14 months of hardwork

I sat for mine early last month & painfully missed the cut-off mark by just 1 pt in Writing,
This was my result; CO - 524, CE - 446, EE - 9, EO - 10. Just 1pt in EE killed my result. So I'm rewriting.

It's not just one point in EE, you're seven points short in your CE too.

You awfully close but you're stuck in a popular trap, it's called the B1 trap, your EO is borderline and could have gone either way, your EE is insufficient, your CE is also quite low . Your CO is at a C1 level meaning you indeed took your time with RFI.

I understand the urge to rush into another one but your reading is a real problem and that's symptomatic of deeper issues with comprehension and ultimately writing, speaking is also lacklustre. You should not only be devising a study plan you should be planning to find opportunities to use your French more preferably with native speakers.

While you're close to the borderline at least 3 sections out of four still require serious work, rushing into another may see something like the previous one. Get a tutor preferably the teacher you vibe with the most at Alliance Française, get on premium Hello Talk practise with native speakers, travel if you can to a French city Abidjan and Dakar . Decompress rather than Immediately immersing yourself in another one which rarely ever work.

I wish you great success and excellent luck on the next one. Try Réussir TCF and join the Reddit TCF group. All the speaking and writing questions from previous tests are usually pooled there

Congratulations! I hope your results turn out great. I tried to comment a few times in French it kept getting flagged by the spam bot.

That being said I think this your rather compact and compressed preparation timeline should carry a parental guidance warning or something; except you are exceptionally brilliant hopefully like the poster or have an unmatched flair for languages 4-6 months is grossly insufficient to learn, master and pass a French proficiency exam. Here's my advice...

You should budget at least a year if you are able to commit to full-time, intensive study or around 2 years if you're unable to. For example if you're starting from the scratch at Alliance Francaise intensive classes that is 3hrs every Mon-Fri (8:30 - 11:30) or (11:45 - 2:45). You will spend 2 months in A1 , 2 months in A2, 3 Months in B1, 4 months in B2. That's already like a year plus another 3 months at least for preparation.

Pls how much does Alliance francaise training package costs?
Re: All TEF Candidates For Canada Immigration, Let's Meet Here! by PrettyRX: 7:13pm On Apr 20
How long did you learn? Tcf is fond of this band 9 trap but you also didn't pass CE.
I would say don't really rush to retake the exam, so you won't get a repeated result. Use ayoub pack and practice exam questions daily
Bon courage!

There is no package as such, there are a lot of modules, Intensive, Weekends, evenings.

I was intensive that's 3 hours weekdays( Mon-Fri) costs average out about 200K per month. Sometimes you'd get a 5% discount here and there for registering consecutive classes.

Class grouping are according to the Common European Framework from A1-B2.

A1 is split into two for intensive, (A1.1 - A1.2) takes 2 months. It takes more time for people in extensive and weekends

A2 is split into two also takes 2 months.

B1 is split into 3 takes 3 months

B2 is split into 4 takes 4 months.

So the entire A1-B2 takes 11 months about an average of 200K per month thereabouts atelier( Methode de Francais et cahier d'activités) that's textbook and workbook inclusive.

The weekends is like around 2 years for the classes, it's much cheaper than 200K a month I don't know the price.

You'd probably need more resources in addition to your classes, tutors, premium subscriptions to Babel or Duolingo and others, the cost can add up. Tutors can cost up to 20K/hr. The costs add up but people's needs differ. Start anyway and get down to business from day 1. Best of luck.
