OGUN POLICE ARREST FEMALE SUSPECT OVER STOLEN MINI BUS REPAINTING, RECOVER EXHIBITS; MANHUNT FOR ACCOMPLICES INTENSIFIED

Detectives of the Omu-Ijebu Divisional Headquarters, Ogun State Police Command, acting on credible intelligence, have foiled a case of suspected vehicle theft and illegal repainting of a Suzuki mini bus in a bush at Omu-Ijebu, leading to the arrest of one female suspect, Azeez Khadijat ‘F’, aged 22.

The incident occurred on Sunday, 19th April 2026, at about 1600hrs, when information was received that three men and a woman were sighted in a bush along Ikhasi Road, Kajola via Omu, illegally repainting a Suzuki mini bus, popularly known as “Korope,” without a registration number.

The vehicle was suspected to be originally yellow in colour before being repainted in white and blue colours in an attempt to alter its identity.

Acting swiftly on the intelligence, detectives mobilised to the scene. On sighting the operatives, the suspects fled in different directions. However, the said Azeez Khadijat ‘F’ was arrested inside the abandoned vehicle.

The vehicle was recovered and secured at the station for safekeeping. It was identified as bearing a Lagos State registration plate number. A search of the scene led to the recovery of three handsets, one power bank, one paint can, one sandpaper, and one Type-C charging cord, all suspected to belong to the fleeing suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the mini bus was allegedly used to perpetrate criminal activities in Lagos State, prompting the suspects to repaint the vehicle in a bid to conceal its identity and evade detection.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while the case is under investigation. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commends the swift response and professionalism of the operatives and assures that all fleeing accomplices will be brought to justice.

sometimes ehh, dis our police, dem dey try sha, but mostly hinder by continues training, shortage of personnel, fundings , equipments etc. government need to do more ( fundings) on electricity, education, health, security, economy etc and not the zobo of $1 trillion economy dey are telling us.

Another case that in all honesty should be the duty of local government police. The taxpayer in Kebbi should not be paying for these kind of policing services in Ogun west, and vise-versa.

If I was to be in authority conducting security reforms I will propose a structural transition program in which a typical policeman serves the first twenty years of his career at the national level to gain the right training, experience and national orientation, then a mandatory transfer to serve in his state police services for another ten years and then a final transfer to serve in his local government police service the last 5 years of his career where the physical rigours may abate but the career wide experience is invaluable.

But this system where in a part of the country it is like we are virtually at war with hundreds dying and being displaced and in another place you are calling the police to rescue your cat stuck on a tree figuratively, all the same police command...it just doesn't add up.

Which one the police just want to collect money. If they are doing their job, problem. If they are not doing their job, problem. I see why Nigeira will never move forward because of people like you. Too many mentally unstable people full Nigeria.
