The dumbest set of people in Nigeria today are the current members of the National Assembly that passed the Electoral Act 2026. Those people are incredibly foolish. I read how they made it impossible for even themselves to move to another party upon failing to get ticket at the primaries of their party and knew that these people were either hypnotized into passing that law or were too dumb to understand the implications of what they passed. Before now, there was nothing like if your name is not on the register of a particular party submitted to INEC, you cannot vie for primaries in the party. It made it easy for them to loose primaries in party A and move to party B the next day and get ticket to contest and win. Today, with the new Electoral Act, Every party must submit membership register to INEC not less than 21 days before primaries and if your name is not in the register submitted to INEC you cannot be nominated by the party. The implications is simple, once INEC receives your party's membership register before the primaries, it is over for you. Whoever the Governor gives ticket through consensus is binding on you and you cannot disagree and go to another party to clinch the ticket because your name could not have been in the other party's membership register. They enslaved themselves.

The senate has refused to amend the law criminalizing dual party membership the way the House of Representatives passed it. Don’t be surprised some of these crooks are in two political parties as a back up plan

For consensus to work, all candidates must accept to step down, if you are not okay, you don't sign off

the whole stuff is just a charade. Imagine going to a president to seek approval for unopposed candidacy, even the presidency said it's in the powers of the governors. You can imagine the things we call democracy. The people no longer have a say, it's the president and govs who decide parliament. What a shame!

The citizens? Are you on colos? Will the citizens decides who flag the party's ticket? You are free to not vote for the party but unless you are a member of their party you can't decide who gets tickets. Is that to hard for you to get?

That something is not a criminal offense does not make it legal. It is illegal to be in 2 political parties at the same time. If you win an election and you are guilty of being in multiple political parties, you will be sacked (removed from office). Being linked to multiple political parties invalidates your candidacy

Technically, Tinubu has prevented the war with this move. If you understand party politics,you will understand it is a very smart move by the president. He was even flexible by asking the Governors to choose a form of primary in they want in their respective states between Consensus and Direct primary.Hence, implosion is being averted

Worse still is that a good number of them have nothing physical to show in their respective constituencies as development projects because of the government obstinate refusal to release funds for capital expenditure. That's why they are being attacked by their constituents. Prior to what they're seeing now, they all had a different impression, that tickets would be an offer of first refusal for them when they were moving like a herd to the APC. Pity.
