ENUGU— The drums of political judgment sounded across the Southeast on Saturday as powerful Igbo coalitions formally declared activist Omoyele Sowore an enemy of Ndigbo, warning that his “downfall is near” if he continues what they call a campaign of sabotage against Igbo leaders.

In a joint world press conference in Enugu, the United Igbo Front and the Igbo Youth Assembly said Sowore had crossed a red line with relentless attacks on Peter Obi, Alex Otti, and other prominent Southeast figures, branding him “a stumbling block to Igbo Presidency in 2027.”

“Omoyele Sowore is an enemy of the Igbos,” the coalition’s chairman declared, as the hall erupted. “He has chosen to fight the sons who carry our hope. Now the Igbo nation will fight back — politically, democratically, and totally. His downfall is near.”

The groups accused Sowore of using his platform to demarket Igbo competence ahead of 2027, saying his actions amount to “political warfare” against a region seeking justice and equity. “You cannot mock the hand that wants to heal Nigeria,” a women leader from Aba said. “The East is awake. Sowore’s era of unchecked attacks ends now.”

From Onitsha to Abakaliki, market unions pledged to launch massive voter education drives to “bury Sowore’s influence” in the Southeast and among Igbo voters nationwide. Diaspora groups in the U.S. and U.K. announced social media campaigns under the banner “Enemy of Ndigbo,” vowing to counter every post he makes about Igbo leaders.

Traditional rulers who attended the event said the insult to one Igbo leader is an insult to all. “We have been patient. Our patience is not weakness,” an elder from Anambra stated. “The downfall of Sowore will be written by the same people he seeks to reduce.”

The coalition warned political parties and media houses to “take note” of the new stance, insisting that any alliance with Sowore against Igbo interest will be met with electoral consequences.

Omoyele Sowore has not issued a response. But across Igbo land, the message is sealed: the region has drawn a line. And for Sowore, they say, the countdown has begun.
