My wife said she wants to pound Yam for me and I told her absolutely no way. She really wanted to pound Yam and I told her I will buy the flour one and she can cook that one. I don't want my wife to suffer. I remember growing up in my parents house and the 30 years old house help used to pound the yam, I was like 16 and I used to join In so that the poor woman will not collapse. I vowed no woman will ever pound Yam for me.

I'm wondering if women still pound Yam for their husbands in 2026

Those were the days when men did not really send how women felt . What our grandmother's went through at the hands of our grandfather's will make the younger generation think slavery started in 1930. My father loved pounded yam and used I to feel sorry for the househelp who would pound it.

Bros I hail. Yes there are machines now but if my father was alive he will say the one that is beaten with stick is the best. Me I don't like stress over food, I just buy the flour and turn into pounded yam. I'm remembering one flour I eat as a youngster now. It was so sweet, time for internet search to find the brand that gave such sweetness..... That is if the company has not collapsed

Bro....What you have just said is Genius. I never thought of a blender to blend the boiled yam. Genius. And we had blenders in my father's house and we were still doing old school bounding. God forgive us for stressing the poor house girl. Thank God she did not slump and kpeme. Then newspapers will carry the gist " Househelp slumps and dies pounding pounded yam ". Then Nigeria's will behave as if their own househelps do not pound Yam

Aliko Dangote thanks but that is a lot of money to invest in one apect of food o. I don't really like pounded yam but I love yam and egg.

Not everybody likes the poundo ham flour, besides women from places like ondo and ekiti don't see yam pounding as a strenuous chore. If she really likes pounded yam, you can get her a food processor.
