bassdow:That was how Plantainville ( Erukulele) with his beautifully crafted business plan on Nairaland lured some of us to invest in a phantom Plantain farm but ended up swindling us of our hard-earned money. I am not accusing you o but " eyan buburu ti ba eniyan rere je". You can search for Igbemo Plantainville or Erukulele on the search engine to corroborate this fact. |

keeper303:I understand Boss, more reason I am not collecting Money from anyone. We will gather on the land and do all the layout and planting together. The Money spent will be open to everyone and will be shared accordingly. I just want to do it in a commercial capacity so that the bye products will be exportable, if not, I can easily do 2 Acres for myself and sell for consumption. |

I am also looking at starting a coconut farm like this, export is also the goal before i can develop capacity to add value and make real money. i am from osun state with representative in ede area. What is the update on this project? Did you get investors already? Have you started in any capacity? My major issue is the land - Land grabbers are rampant what is the assurance the land is genuine and right documentation, avoiding future family ownership issues, what about government plan for the area (people dont look into that, this is a long term investment it needs to in accordance to nigerias blueprint). I think the best way to start this would be for each investors to buy the arces of lands together minimum purchase 2acres. so the farm can easily be seperated if not interested in the future and investors still in can buy out the property so the business continues. Second is the management - this will need to be detailed properly. Are you looking for partially silent investors ? to what extent is the involvement you are looking for. it would be good if there is someone who knows or have experience managing a coconut farm also as an investor. Are you experienced with documented proof? - This is soomething for later but, will there be clear laid out company operations rules and hiring rules to ensure no one is basically just packing family members in as employees or outsourcing to their own companies as suppliers or contractors. It usually should not be a problem if they deliver properly but were humans mixing business and pleasure never ends well. Another thing is selling. Do you already have ready contacts/buyers etc will it be a situation of i brought the buyer and get more percentage of profit? especially for the plantain because i assume that the plantain is supposed to be as maintenance cost for the coconut farm before it gets to fruiting stage. Many more questions to ask but can do that if this is real and not a fake money scheme. |

Ayooze:Good Day Sir. Thanks so much for your constructive input, it's well appreciated. The answer to your questions are well detailed in the Business Plan pdf but it can't be posted here. Since you are in Osun State, I will appreciate if we can meet One on One to discuss this. To answer few of the questions: 1) We have not Kickstart the project because we only have 3 investors out of the projected 10 investors needed. 2) Land is never a problem in Osun State. Initially, my plan was to situate the Farm in Ede/Ilesa Axis, but due to the rapid development going in in that area, I believe it's best to move to a less developed Area, reason I'm considering Awo/Erin Osun/Songbe etc axis. Songbe is better because the land there is water-logged. As you are aware, waterlogged land is very good for coconut and it will equally not be attractive for commercial usage, thereby making it more secure from government takeover. |
