“Nigerian don’t even want 24 hours light, can they even afford 24 hours light ? Nigerians just want to come home at 8pm and meet light so they won’t sweat when they sleep and also meet the light by 7am so they can iron thier cloths and then you can take the light and divert it to where factories are. Nigerians are not asking for much and they’re the easiest people to please. How can this be too much?”

Deji Adeyanju is a fool and that was an incredibly stupid statement for him to have made. Manufacturing is the bedrock of economic growth and development. For every hour that there is no electricity, money gets spent on diesel for generators to keep production running. For most businesses, this can be several tens of thousands monthly, Hundred of thousands monthly or millions monthly. This is money that otherwise could have been used to employ more staff or increase the salaries of those already employed. Constant electricity leads to greater productivity and greater earning potentials for workers. This enables them afford better quality lifestyles, have greater disposable income and ofcourse pay more in taxes. Steadily available electricity makes costs of production lower and produced goods more competitive when compared to imports. The reason why foreign rice will always be cheaper than local rice is because foreign rice mills don't have to deal with the added cost of generating their own electricity unlike what our mills here have to deal with. But ofcourse as a lawyer, I don't expect Deji to know that. Since all lawyers by nature are pre-qualified idiots. They are a huge reason why Nigeria is the mess it currently is. |

Bitter truth that the ignorant will argue about. Ordinary increasing the electricity tariffs to boost the distribution of electricity, we all heard the loud noise from the Nigerians |

cyril10:Read this post and you'll slap anyone who prays for our politician. The latest I read last week was that Iran has promised to fix the refineries that were attacked within 2 months. In all of these, Iran has not used the US sanctions or the war as an excuse to slack. I mean these people have all the excuses in the world to tell you why they don't have light and why their refineries will not work. God, why? 😢 If you think our politicians are not working with the devil himself, think again. 👇 SixSeven: |

christistruth01:They will make the solar not to be lasting more than 3 years. Same thing happened to generator importation Ordinary normal light bulb should be lasting up to 5 years, but it was deliberately made to be lasting not more than 2 years now, globally though |

Look at this picture below. What does it say? 👇 Meanwhile in a country called Nigeria, what was the headline for this weekend? Obasanjo says NNPC refineries cannot be fixed 🤡 Iran never said let's wait for this war to end. They never said maybe US will attack it again so let's not repair it. They never complained about the sanctions. They never complained about world economy and all those nonsense those people smart by half come to preach to you online or on TV. They went straight to business. This is the same government people abuse here meanwhile their own government in Nigeria doesn't give a damn about their welfare. The failure of a power minister says we should appoint a coordinating minister of energy after failing to restore power in 2 weeks he gave himself. President disconnected his own residence from national grid and went solar. Eeeeeeddddddoooots

Very wrong Deji. Nigerians actually want 24 hours electricity. However, they want it for free or peanut just like university education, PMS and standard health care. |

When we say common sense is far from being common, this is an example. 24 hours electricity with prepaid metre is all that is needed. The prepaid put you in control of your power consumption. All over the word, wherever there is 24 hours electricity supply, people control its usage. They know that there is direct connection between the bill and consumption. But in Nigeria, there is no correlation between what is consumed and the monthly bill for those on post-paid metre. |
| Re: Deji Adeyanju:Nigerians Don't Even Want 24 Hrs Electricity.Can They Afford It? by TimeManager(m): 9:57am On Apr 28 |
In the past, I could remember Nigerians saying all we needed was 24/7 power supply, we are ready to pay, just give us steady power. Now, they have something close to it and they complaining about the price. They are not even paying cost reflective yet, Government is still subsidizing the price. -Kiss the truth! |

Coolbite:Nigerians don't have the habit/mentality of paying bills regularly. You can't dispute that fact Why should companies raking billions of naira as profits yearly would still be owing Nepa? |

This Deji must be very stupid. When the GSM first came, they said poor people wouldn't be able to afford it but within a year, pepper sellers got one, likewise beggars. In the 90s, a financial group said Nigeria was not ripe for atm cos thieves would always buggle it and take people's money away, but what happened next? Why not provide the 24hrs electricity first and see if Nigerians will be able to afford it or not. In my area at alimosho, we're under 33" we've been enjoying 24 hrs power supply for nearly 20 years until recently when the supply became epileptic. Next to the estate where I live is a community, comprising low cadre people and artisans. There's a woman who operates a pepper grinding machine. She's always busy from morning till evening. Once its 7pm, alhaja would tell you that you're late so people always get there ahead of time. She enjoys same 24hrs electricity supply. Due to constant light, pure water companies,.nylon or celophene companies, even welding companies bombarded the community. They pay their nepa dues cos they appreciate its importance. There's also a furniture guy in that community that I know. He moved into his house near Ifo 3 years ago but still keeps his shop. He comes all the way from ifo to operate it Deji should just shut his parrot mouth. Nigerians can afford any service, provided its available and sustainable. Does he even know how much people spend on solar and it's maintenance in their various homes? Iya alata has a solar in her shop, powering fridge and apartment and charges her phone too. Deji should run a trip to Benin republic. He will retract his statement when he comes back |
