Someone introduced me to another foilar fertilizer for my cucumber . I bought it and I introduced it to the third section of my cucumber, it is expensive when compared to other foilar fertilizer around but it is worth it as it increase my yield and also increased the harvesting duration of my cucumber plant. Infact I am getting tired of harvesting it. The product name is tecamin flower

Cricket, bush rat and snail have been a big threat to my cucumber section as I experience alot of seedlings that are destroyed which makes me replant anytime I plant my cucumber. Even after applying insecticides at a concert rate, those cricket keeps coming back as a result that I'm the one intruding their territory. Within two weeks before the cucumber seedlings becomes big that the cricket won't be able to destroy, at times I lost upto 30%. But I have finally crossed the hurdle. It involves using seed crate and the first trial have been successful

Planting veggies in batches on the same land can be a bit risky as the older plants transfers pest and diseases to younger ones which leaves the farmer to fight it off. This really affected my production as I lost some of my seedlings as a result of me trying to meet up with weekly demands of fresh cucumber. I was able to find my way around it by simply doing a make shift barricade and the result has being encouraging. |

One key secret of bountiful harvest in crop production in general is a fertilization. Fertilization involves replenishing lost nutrient in soil back either through an organic or inorganic means. Cucumber and tomato are heavy eater veggies which makes soil nutrients depletes very quick. I apply fertilizer to my farm weekly for a bountiful harvest but considering the amount of manpower I lose whenever I apply fertilizer to thousands of crops individually, it made me research and stumbled on an agric hack call Venturi injector. I purchased it last week and I will be installing it on a particular section of cucumber and observe the result. It is always advisable to test a new invention or chemical on a little portion on your farm to avoid stories that touches. I would drop updates about how I installed it

It almost 3 months since I posted. Work stress made it really hard for me to post online. Issues relating to expansion and workers made us lost a little towards the tail end of this year but we learnt our lesson already. Rating my production and performance this year, I would say we made lots of progress and I believe next year would be a better year as I learnt more on field and some paid lectures. I would be employing a supervisor next year so as to relieve myself ABIT as farming is so tedious and it's not advisable I stay on the farm always. I have started training one of my worker that performed well this year to be my supervisor next year. We only have cucumber at the moment of different stage and age. I will be dropping update on all of my production. Producing cucumber during harmattan isn't an easy task as we combat insect, dryness, cold, no bees, e.t.c but the price of a bag is always encouraging during this time. The plan is to have over 14000 stand before the end of this year. Stay tuned |

Our practise every year is to purchase enough manure that would sustain our veggy cultivations during the dry season as it is easier to ferry during this period as a result of less water in the manure. Price of manure has tripled and I try to imagine the faith of new farmers coming in with small capital. Our last year manure bank have been exhausted and we have started the process of ferrying another set of manure to the farm. Our target is at least 2000 bags before ending of February Pic 1. Picture of where we kept our manure. Pic2. Picture of manure that we are ferrying to the farm

Whitefly is a menace during dry season and if not well attended to, it would reduce your production or stunt your veggies. Controlling them isn't easy if your farm is situated in the forest as the migrate in millions to your farm to wreck havoc. Consistency and combating them early enough is the key. Even with my rigorous routine of combating them, they are still under my cucumber leaves but I have being able to reduce their population. The picture below is what they look like, if you zoom it you would see them well. But most of the whiteflies in the picture are dead already

Price of a sachet of of 1000 cucumber seed is now 38k. I purchased about 18k sachet and I would be planting all before the end of the second week of January. I started planting on the 20 of November and I resisted temptation to plant all at once to reduce the risk of creating unnecessary glut. We presently have about 4 different portions cultivated at different time and the 4 portion gulped about 14k sachet. Price of a bag of cucumber is between 30k - 40k presently and I don't see it dropping below 30k for now as many farmers have gone on holiday.

Cucumber is a hungry plant take requires heavy feeding to keep up with the continuous fruiting. It needs several micro and macro nutrients to help keep it in shape. I would be talking about magnesium. Magnesium is an important micro nutrients that cucumber plants needs as it aid photosynthesis. One noticeable effect of magnesium is that it gives the cucumber leaves and fruit a deep green colour. Tho green coloured cucumber is genetical as some cucumber fruit comes out in different colours that are not green. But for we that plant the green variety as a result of our market demands. It is advisable we add magnesium to our feeding routine. Epsom salt is an excellent source of magnesium and it can be gotten at a pharmaceutical shop.

We pre sprouted about 3500 seeds of cucumber yesterday that would be planted on the field tomorrow to commence full farming activities today. We have changed our method of seed sowing and this method has been working perfectly with about 99% seed germination and less than 1% loss of seed time rodents and crickets

Aquadude16:I have 400k capital. Should I go for cucumber or tomato? |
| Re: My profitable TOMATO AND CUCUMBER INVESTMENT by Aquadude16(op): 7:34am On May 30 |
Prophit:Good morning You can go for any of the two as they are both profitable but your choice between both depends on your location and schedule. I started of on just a quarter of a plot and I am currently using over 6 acres so nothing is too small to start with. I will only advise you not to tow the part I took by figuring it out myself as I burnt my hand alot. Learn from a practising farmer first before commencing |
