Is Computer Engineering Great Course to Study in Nigeria?

The problem with Nigeria tertiary institutions is there won't be much practical on computer.

I remember during tertiary, there are some of my course mates studying computer/other field, but they couldn't create ordinary email address

Computer engineers design, automate, scale and solve complex business problems. They work in robotics, write softwares for machine called OEM softwares and so on

OP should Stick with the traditional engineering. (Electrical, Mech, Civil and Chemical) if he has the chance.

I practiced in Nigeria before I moved abroad. You are not the OP. Why don't you state your own opinion and move on.

I can't remember when I saw an Engineering vacancy specifically asking for computer engineer degree.
It would likely be advertised as a job for Electrical/Electronics Engineers.

For a standard organization, ATS filter would likely screen you out, even before you make it to an interview.

I would say study electrical engineering, then pivot to computer engineering for your postgraduate.
Reason being that electrical engineering is by far the most immune career to AI, and computer engineering is only a subsection of electrical engineering.

FYI: I'm MBCS, so I know well enough about the industry to advice at this level.

No. I am in Canada. I practiced in Nigeria, the UK, the US, and now practice in Canada.

Yeah. My colleagues working in Samsung and AMD hold degrees in Electrical/Electronics not Computer Engineering.

My point is that you don't need a degree in computer engineering to work as a computer engineer.

Go for a more general course that makes you more versatile and open more doors of opportunities. Don't narrow yourself to computer engineering from the get go, which some universities even still classify as a course under Elect/Elct.
