A trending video on social media shows a Fulani herder striking an operative of the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun) in the face with a cattle stick, causing a visible injury and disfigurement to the officer’s mouth area.

According to multiple reports accompanying the clip, the incident occurred after the Amotekun operative instructed the herder not to cross a boundary into an unauthorized area.

The confrontation escalated rapidly, culminating in the herder swinging his long herding stick and hitting the security operative directly in the face.

The video, which has since gone viral and attracted widespread reactions on Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly known as Twitter), captures the moment of the strike and its immediate aftermath, showing the officer reacting to the blow.

Some accounts claim the herder had earlier been reported for allegedly harassing local women, prompting the Amotekun team to intervene before the situation turned violent.
Findings indicate that the incident occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State, with at least one report pointing to the Okeho area in Kajola Local Government Area.

Amotekun, established to strengthen security across the South-West region, frequently responds to complaints involving land use, grazing, and boundary disputes. Tensions between farmers and herders remain a recurring challenge in parts of Oyo State and other areas in the region.

Watching the video is even annoying. See the Amotekun officers busy calling for witnesses as usual and the herdsman is even looking at them as if they're imbeciles
