Lagos again. Nothing for the other South? This "turn of the South" is looking skewed o. Anyways, the other part of the South claims they are not desperate for the presidency and are succeeding without being president but their unborn children will not be exempted from paying these loans for projects that are sited in Lagos. |

Forkthiefnubu: no body is holding you from going………blame Azikiwe for shortsightedness for not including secession clause in the constitution when awolowo and Ahmadu bello called for the inclusion but rather made it a treasonable offence……..the only way out now is to lobby your reps in the NA to sponsor a bill for referendum and move back to your region while you at it, so the rest of us can take you seriously…….enough with the cries already ![]()

Tinubu is borrowing money from around the world in the name of Nigeria only to pour it in Lagos alone while the rest of us pay for it then tomorrow the agbero urchins in Lagos will say Lagos is exclusively theirs. |

I hope that Lagos belongs to their great grand ancestors who built everything in Lagos without Federal Government support will understand that it is the money that belongs to all Nigerians that Federal Government has been pouring into construction and reconstruction in Lagos State. So far under Tinubu alone, infrastructure in Lagos alone has consumed multiple trillions of Naira with most of the loans you are hearing about obtained on behalf of all Nigerians to fund infrastructure in Lagos, whether it is road, airport, rail etc We have absolutely no problem with that. Let's just keep it on record, in case of tomorrow, they will claim it is their sweat alone that built Lagos, other Nigerians do not deserve to be in Lagos. Myself I do not live in Lagos and do not ever intend to live in Lagos. |

sagitariusbaby: Lagos generate the highest non oil revenue eg Vat, and other revenue for the FG…….can you tell us how much your state generates? When it suit you clowns, you are quick to tell us Lagos is no man’s land and belongs to everyone, but when it attract development, you suddenly remember it belongs to Yorubas and is in Yoruba land ![]() |

Hezzyluv:To be honest bridges, particularly reinforced concrete bridges and the kind of monolithic reinforced concrete bridges we seem to like in these parts are generally not repairable. The only option once they have structural issues is to tear them down. Because once any part or section fails, it will all go like a proverbial pack of cards with devastating effects. I do hope the MoW will insist on modernisation involving new designs and technologies not just playing around with function and giving the same ol, same ol. It maybe a good thing JB is not involved this time around. When it comes to engineering infrastructure they are a one trick pony. The only things they have done differently are the Lekki link bridge and the Uyo-Abak narrow gorge bridge both state projects. Will have thought they will use the Second Niger bridge to really shine, show themselves to Nigeria and thank this country for decades of patronage with something really spectacular but alas it was the same ol, same ol. A bridge that in future will not even allow the proper use of that river for marine transport. Even the older bridge looks more iconic. Anyway horses for causes, its all about the money. |

Uchek: dear uchenna, it is not my fault if you lack comprehension…….like you can see from the write up I posted, Azikiwe was the head of government and it was backed by the then colonial masters………you can give the phone to someone else to read for you incase you don’t understand…….thanks for your attention on this matter ![]() |

Not an engineer ...but let's reason this one. Carter Bridge was built in 1901. Brooklyn Bridge was built in 1883. Both sit in salt water Why is the Brooklyn Bridge still in operation... no thoughts of being demolished?...maintenance. Both bridges were built when horse drawn carriages were the vehicles of the day. They were not built for heavy duty vehicles . I disagree with the demolition of the bridge. Why can't they simply build a new bridge at another location then have the Carter bridge closed and rehabilitated? The piles can be repaired ...replaced or whatever. When reopened...like the Brooklyn Bridge ...the bridge should be restricted to light traffic ...cars only ...no commercial vehicles . The new bridge can be built somewhere else..... which would reduce congestion a lot more...it will take maybe a year or two. If the bridge is demolished .... there will be one or two years of commuting disaster. |
