Referencing my X statement from two days ago, which has now been confirmed, below are the words of Mr. Asemota that require our consideration and action:

The Supreme Court’s ADC ruling is a “banana peel” judgment:

What the Supreme Court just did

• The apex court ordered the ADC leadership dispute sent back to the Federal High Court “for determination on the merits,” effectively saying the Court of Appeal’s status‑quo‑ante order was “unnecessary, improper and unwarranted.”

Through Justice Garuba, the court stressed that the substantive questions about who controls ADC must be fully tried and decided at the trial level, rather than frozen by interim orders.

Why it is a “banana peel” judgment.

In earlier rulings, the Supreme Court and the Electoral Act 2026 framework had emphasised that lower courts should not decide party‑leadership disputes, treating them as internal matters of political parties.

Here, the Court still allows the Federal High Court to probe the merits of ADC leadership, which revives the very domestic‑politics litigation it had previously tried to shut out. It therefore creates a legal slippery‑slope: like a banana peel on the floor, it looks like it clears the path but may actually cause future political and judicial trips.

Recall that:

The Supreme Court had previously held that courts should not routinely decide party‑leadership contests, echoing the position that such matters are *internal to the party and not subject to ordinary judicial determination.*

The Labour Party leadership case around the expiry of Abure’s tenure as national chairman similarly highlighted that once a national‑chairman’s constitution‑based tenure ends, the party must re‑elect or choose a new leader, and courts must generally avoid creating *“judicial chairmen”* which INEC in their portal refer to as CHAIRMAN *BY COURT ORDER.*

The ADC is now a political cul‑de‑sac, and any serious presidential aspirant must attach to a newer, cleaner party, (who would have done their congresses & convention perhaps) secure a clear ticket, and build momentum before the turbulence hits—not after courts have turned the party into a constitutional and succession‑battlefield.

Verifiable fact:

They plan to deliver judgment on the 5th of May. Depending on the outcome, they may direct the matter back to the High Court. The opposition will then have only three working days (6th, 7th, and 8th) to take a decision, with the 9th and 10th falling on the weekend and marking the deadline for submission to INEC.

This appears to be an orchestrated move by anti-democratic and centrifugal forces against one person, His Excellency Peter Obi.

This may be the end of the road for me

I genuinely don't have the energy and the luxury of moving around anymore

My generation must now sit down and build something tangible that will be result oriented

I'm still mourning the loss of LP - it should not have happened after we used our blood to build that platform to a powerhouse

Now we have also invested massively in ADC. Already alot of young people have invested in setting up party structures. Membership registration drives and shaping the party's media outlook. Just recently I did multiple TV appearances speaking about the party and the coalition

I expect my generation to consolidate on gains of yesteryears and build a table for ourselves. At the moment it appears our leaders make decisions that favour their own ambition without considering their supporters

How long before my generation becomes the main conversation? This politicking should be revolving around us not them.

Don't lie, you are not happy. Obi contesting alone will mean that Tinubu will no longer claim "its the turn of the South" as a campaign mantra. Meanwhile, a substantial part of the Southeast will still stick to the ADC.

I’m cautiously happy about this news. Finally, Peter Obi is about to move to another party where he will get an automatic ticket to contest for president. Hopefully, Rabiu Kwakwanso will also join him so that they can fly their OK ticket together.

Atiku and whatever is left of the ADC coalition of hatred, lies, propaganda and desperate power grab can move to another party if they can’t take control of the party. Basically, the coalition ship has capsized because of was built on selfish interest and not any sound principle.

So, the lineup for 2027 is already taking shape. It’s looking like Tinubu/Shettima vs Atiku/Makinde vs Obi Kwakwanso. If it plays out like this, this should be Bola Tinubu’s easiest election in history.


Stop the delusion about Atiku or ADC getting any votes in any southern states. Ibos will vote 99% for Obi like they did in 2023. Atiku will not get 5% in any state in the south south and south west apart from Oyo where Makinde will help him get some few votes.

I spoke to a few party leaders and some of my friends that are contesting elections

One thing is clear to me at this point that even the ADC alone cannot defeat APC not to talk of dividing it again; it is not possible!

Even as a young man, I see this clearly and I expect our leaders to see it too

I have begged them to drop their egos and speak to each other for goodness sake! We should be more concerned about the mega alliance we have announced at Ibadan which will include the PDP, DLA, APP, Accord, LP, NNPP and others

Don't lie, you are not happy. If Tinubu wants that to happen, he wouldn't have frustrated Obi out of the LP. Obi contesting alone will mean that Tinubu will no longer claim "it's the turn of the South" as a campaign mantra. Obi will slug it out with him again in the South and his Northern buffer is likely gone. Meanwhile, a substantial part of the Southeast will still stick to the ADC while a Seyi Makinde as Vice will also balkanize Southwestern votes in states like Oyo, Osun and Lagos because the Southwest voters remain the most liberal. Where will Tinubu's bloc votes come from in a three-horse race?

Lol. Atiku ran immediately after Buhari’s 8 years in 2023 and still won Osun, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa. I know you may claim it's PDP structure but the PDP structures still exists as the Ibadan Declaration showed. If Atiku doesn't win those states again, it will be shared among all 3 candidates with Obi getting a bigger chunk of it. Atiku’s biggest joker remains the Northwestern and Northeastern bloc votes that was shared in 2023 because of the hardwork of the likes of Elrufai and the muslim-muslim factor, both of which no longer exists.
