Liz Balogun has been so good so far for Toronto. Very professional style of play. I would be very surprised if she doesn't make this team. Every time she enters the game changes.

Looks like she injured herself. Hopefully it is not serious. This is some serious village people activity 😩

Uche Izoje and Gabby White are unlikely to feature in today's game with Indiana. It appears they have both returned to their respective colleges.

So manage your expectations accordingly.

Sadly Elizabeth Balogun has been waived. Really felt she had a chance because of the quality of competition on the team. Hoping she gets picked up by another team.

Oh you don drop am sef. Omo, e pain me. After the fine showings.

3 arrivals to the Tempo roster kinda contributed to this decision I think.

Not necessarily cause the names highlighted mostly have a guaranteed contract. Thing is there were just 2 spots guaranteed spots left to be filled so it was always going to come down to the wire. It's why I had mixed feelings about Amy in Dallas cause 11 players already have a guaranteed contract and they have just one spot left to fill. Didn't like that she was in that situation and still hopeful she'll make the team cause she didn't exactly have a great showing last game.

Still felt Liz should have made the team cause Tempo isn't a contending team and she sure is better than some of her competition for those spots. But preferences could have played a role here.

2 spots. Damn. That's cut-throat. But you are right... preferences.

I hope these refs won't start calling fouls when we get physical

Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by lovewins: 12:49am On May 03
Very impressed with Shay. Despite her size she's been the bright light tonight. Needs to work on her free throw but her drives on offense and tenacity on defence is such a good sight. Like they say you can't teach effort.
Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by BascoVanVeli(m): 12:53am On May 03
WNBA referees are just criminals. We have not played a single fair game.
Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by BascoVanVeli(m): 2:05am On May 03
Pallas is our only big that can truly match up with these players. I don't understand why she has been given such limited time. It's almost like we are trying to lose.
Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by TheSuperNerd(m): 10:39am On May 03
Nothing much to say on that result. 105 - 57? No wahala. Caitlin, u did not have to play but you did. Wicked woman😡
Kelsey Mitchell... I see una.

We go take the positives abeg. Na Fever affect us for Indiana😁
Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by TheSuperNerd(m): 10:40am On May 03
To be honest, I was never gonna comment on the officiating which at times was tueh! But ofcos they wont wanna see their WNBA teams beaten or bullied to avoid "upsets". wink

I have a different opinion cause I've seen quite a number of preseason games. Officiating has historically been a hit topic in the WNBA and literally every team acknowledges it's terrible. So I think the referees are making efforts to clean that up and we seen significant changes with the games aired so far.

A fundamental change has been how fouls are called. Any defensive set that impedes movement is now a foul, grabbing and clawing on the opposing player is also getting called now. And thankfully they've been consistent throughout all the games. Teams will now have to adjust their defensive plans as things they used to get away with previously are now getting called.

So officiating wasn't unfair yesterday, referring has just become a little more strict with contact.

Alright fairs... makes me appreciate MJ's and Bird's eras even more coz they lived through all that "allowed" contact.
