Lawyer Alleges Forgery In Egwuaba's APM Resignation Letter

Observation:

Letter issued and received on 5th December 2025 but bearing NBA seal issued to expire in March 2027.

As a lawyer and member of NBA, NBA seal are issued yearly to expire the following year. The NBA seal issued to expire in March 2027 can only be produced and issued in January 2026 and could not have been attached to a letter dated December 2025.

This raises a serious issue of forgery and backdated letter. It can equally put the concerned lawyer in a serious professional misconduct trouble before the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee.

I hope @NigBarAssoc and @afamosigwe can take note and look into this.

I am just curious, is it illegal to be a legal adviser to more than one political party? Other than conflict of interest, which the client has to decide, is it illegal in itself?

Because I think this supposed forgery will be worse than being a legal adviser to more than one political party.

The national legal adviser is a member of the national executive committee (NEC) of a political party. Same as party secretary, party chairman, treasurer etc. It is not appropriate to be a NEC member of two different parties at the same time. In the case of Egwuaba, he is listed on INEC portal as a NEC member of APM and NDC.
