Obi, Kwankwaso Left ADC Over ‘judicial Trap’, Alleged Gifts To Judges — Yaro by SlavaUkraini(op): 6:53am On May 05
The Abuja coordinator of the Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement, Mallam Jabir Ibrahim Yaro, has given detailed reasons behind the exit of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), pointing to internal party crises, alleged external interference, and strategic political considerations.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST, Yaro argued that Nigeria’s opposition parties are currently facing deep challenges.

“First of all, as you know, in Nigeria, opposition parties are actually in trouble or in danger because of the current administration, because there is no single opposition party, as it is now, that is clean and without any internal crisis.”

He went further to suggest that powerful forces are behind the instability.

“And we all know the people behind all the crises in the opposition parties, including the ADC.”

Yaro also linked Obi’s decision to recent legal developments, particularly a Supreme Court ruling, which he described as risky.

“Secondly, if you look at the recent judgment of the Supreme Court, you should know that it is a trap. This is my personal opinion. I’m not a barrister, but it is a trap because the Supreme Court referred the case back to the Federal High Court.”

He expressed distrust in the lower court system, making a strong allegation:

And you know who is in charge of the High Court. You know what has been happening in our judiciary in this country.”

Answering questions on who he believes controls the lower courts, Yaro said: “Actually, a minister is allegedly controlling the High Court.”

Yaro cited alleged benefits given to judges as part of his claim.

Recently, they built houses for them in the FCT, they gave them land, you know, they bought cars for them and the rest.”

“So there is no way you should be expecting something positive to come out of the Federal High Court when people like them are in charge.”

According to him, internal issues within the ADC also played a major role.

“Then, secondly, there are internal crises in the ADC. From the very first day of this coalition, they made it very clear that everything would be transparent,” he told DAILY POST.

“They said there would be direct primaries, that there would be transparent primaries or consensus,” he said.

He, however, claimed that the promises were not kept.

“But as we are going, we have learned that there is an individual who is trying to hijack the party and stop everyone from expressing their own interests.”

Yaro insisted that Obi and his supporters are focused on the presidency, not a vice-presidential role.

“We are not ready to settle for any vice-presidential position. We are going to contest for the presidency.”

He dismissed claims that such a stance is selfish.

“It is not selfish.”

He added that Obi’s political movement has strong grassroots backing.

He said, “You know that in 2023, many people died because of Peter Obi. They died because of his ambition.

“Many people are in politics because of him,” he claimed.

Yaro also spoke about regional power balance and ongoing coalition tensions.

“It is the turn of Southern Nigeria. Let them complete their tenure,” he argued further.

He criticised another unnamed aspirant within the coalition:

Every election cycle, the same man who is trying to get the ADC ticket is the one insisting that he must get that ticket.

“If so, he cannot win an election. Why must it always be him? Why can’t he support these people?”

On the role of vice president, Yaro downplayed its importance in Nigeria’s political system.

“We all know the VP is just a ceremonial position in this country.

“Look at what is happening now. It is just ceremonial.

“And up till now, since Tinubu became president, they have never handed over this country to the vice president.”

Recall that Peter Obi had, on Sunday, announced his resignation from the ADC over internal party issues. He officially decamped to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

A few hours after Obi’s announcement, Kwankwaso joined him in the party and announced his exit from the ADC.

There are strong indications that both Obi and Kwankwaso will run under a joint ticket in 2027.

We know and they made the right decision to leave

I will do the same if I were Obi and kwankwaso.

Tinubu used the supreme court judgment to set trap for Obi and Obi being a wise politician, saw this trap and dodged it by defecting to NDC with his political ally, Rabiu musa kwankwaso.

God bless the political principality of our time, his Excellency, Mr Peter Gregory Obi.

And after wrecking the ADC as he has done to PDP, LP and NNPP, what next? Wreck the NDC? What is Tinubu afraid of? Only one category of people are desperate to govern the people against their will. They are called despots.

It's a big trap waiting for them at the High court and a beautiful counter strike to evacuate to the NDC. Obi killed several birds with one stone, he defected at the late hour where it will be almost impossible to bugger him with court, he left with Kwankwaso (a big political fish) and garnered a momentum that looks to sweep him to Aso rock.....10 million registered in less than 60 hours. Can you beat it?

Obi - Kwankwaso will win, even if you form a party one day to election. It's very obvious.

South East will vote obi
South South will vote him too
Lagos and Abuja will vote Obi
The North will divide between Obi and Atiku because of Kwankwaso.
The South West will divide between Obi and Tinubu

Then comes vote-buying, thuggery and riggings by Tinubu. That's the only reason I cannot guarantee who will be declared the winner. But on a neutral ground, Obi will win with a landslide. The policies are not working, people are dying of hunger and insecurity. The government has no single benefit we can point out to for almost four years.

Very silly statement. Is it the Supreme Court that told the ADC to appeal an interlocutory decision of the Federal High Court all the way to the Supreme Court which wasted precious time? Most unfair to speak so unkindly of the Judges who were simply doing their jobs according to Law. About time we hold folks who exercise their rights to free speech to account for their utterances by proving them. Where they fail to prove the truth of their utterances the consequences are to follow.

Wike Boasts Of Helping APC Use Judiciary To Kill Osun LG Funds Case, Warns Party Leaders Against Ingratitude

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly boasted that he assisted certain elements within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in deploying the judiciary to frustrate the Osun State local government allocation lawsuit.

In a video now circulating widely on social media and obtained by SaharaReporters, Wike made the claim while addressing a crowd in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The former Rivers governor accused the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, of benefitting from judicial actions against the Osun State Government without knowing those who did the work behind the scenes.

The suit in question led to the withholding of local government funds in Osun State, a development widely seen as targeting the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as opposition in the state.

Wike, who spoke angrily, suggested that the court action supporting the APC’s position against the Osun government did not happen by chance, boasting that powerful political forces worked quietly to ensure the outcome.

“Don’t take our support for Mr President for granted,” Wike warned, in an apparent message to APC leaders defending Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. “You have to be careful about the statements you make. You have to be very careful.”

He accused Basiru of political ingratitude, claiming the APC was enjoying in Osun State without understanding who engineered their advantage.

“Today, you are enjoying in Osun. You don’t know those who did the work,” Wike said. “You are opening your mouth to talk about Rivers State.”

Yes. Just like no other Nigerian leader put this much effort towards destroying our democracy, except Sani Abacha. Previous leaders were accused of rigging elections, Tinubu is hell-bent on being the only viable candidate on the ballot. This is the model being adopted by Tallon in Benin Republic. After all political parties are destroyed, who will stop him? All across the states, governors are also handpicking their preferred candidates while Tinubu handpicks the governors. Where is the will of the people in all of these? What is the definition of democracy again?

chisomkachy:
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has withdrawn the alleged money laundering suit it filed at the Federal High Court against Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

Naija News understands that the anti-graft did not give any particular reason for its application for withdrawal.

Following the application to withdraw, Justice Nicholas Oweibo discharged the ‘lien/Post No Debit’ placed on Obasa’s three accounts in Standard Chartered Bank.

The accounts are (US Dollars) 0001852063; (Current) 0001852056 and (Saving) 5002309624.

The judge also set aside the ex-parte orders he made on September 15, 2020, which led to the freezing of the accounts.

Recall that the court on September 15, 2020, granted an interim order freezing Obasa’s accounts following the EFCC’s application in a suit marked FHC/LCS/1064/2020.

The agency had said it was investigating the Speaker for the alleged offences of conspiracy, diversion of funds, abuse of office and money laundering.

But Justice Oweibo, on August 16, 2023, heard the application to unfreeze the accounts in his chamber.

During the hearing, the EFCC was represented by Mr. Sulaiman I. Sulaiman, while Obasa was represented by Mr. Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN).

The EFCC lawyer told the court that the application to unfreeze the accounts was pursuant to Section 44(2)(K) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Sections 26, 29 and 34 (1) of the EFCC (Establishment) Act, 2004, and under the court’s inherent jurisdiction.

Section 44 of the Constitution concerns constitutional rights to property.

Justice Oweibo held: “It is hereby ordered that an order is hereby granted to the respondent/applicant setting aside the ex-parte orders of this court made on the 15th day of September 2020 upon the ex-parte motion of the Applicant/ Respondent in relation the funds of the Respondent/Applicant domiciled in the accounts stated in the following schedule:

“ACCOUNT NAME, FINANCIAL ACCOUNT INSTITUTIONS, TYPE OF ACCOUNT, 1. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered, (US Dollars) 0001852063 2. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered (Current) 0001852056 3. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Standard Chartered (Saving) 5002309624.

“Issued at Lagos, under the seal of this Honourable Court and by the hands of the Presiding Judge this 16th day of August 2023.”

Fact-check me, everybody I supported to win election since I started following politics have been winning. I was deceived to support Sai Baba, making a lot of posts about Jonathan, laughing at who was supporting Jonathan. Sai Baba won. I was neutral at Tinubu but I didn't support Peter Obi. Now I am still neutral because I don't really believe in any politician. But I'm certain everyone, even a resurrected Buhari will perform 4 times better than this lifeless man in power grin

Tinubu studied the military dictator very well and won’t mind to be adopted as the only candidate of all the parties registered by Amupitan’s INEC, in the same way that all the five parties in 1998 adopted Abacha in his failed attempt to change into a civilian president.

My dad, victim of complex conspiracy – Kola Abiola

What role did Bola Tinubu play in all of these?

At the very beginning, he was part of the Yar’Adua PF group from Jos. He was a senator then, and as far as the group went, we related. The crisis started post-election. When Abacha came, one of the things he wanted to do was to be the administrator for Lagos.

That is Tinubu?

Yes. I am sure you have seen pictures of him and my dad. He was hoping that there would be civilian administrators like we had under IBB but Abacha said no, that he was going to have military administrators. So he (Tinubu) said okay, in that case, can I be a deputy administrator? But Abacha said that there wouldn’t be deputies. Then he wanted the post of a commissioner.

He wanted to be a commissioner?

Yes. Then it was a choice between him and someone very close to Jakande who has passed on now. I can’t remember his name, but because Babagana was already in the government, that guy was picked as commissioner. But really, Senator Tinubu had lost out already.

Was Tinubu very close to MKO?

Yes, he was close enough. He and Adeniyi Adele, a very good guy, were close to my father. In fact, Adeniyi was closer to my father and more dedicated to the process than anyone of them. When my documentary comes out, you will see Tinubu’s take on issues. So once he lost out, automatically, he became a NADECO member and Adeniyi was incarcerated.
