You are not saving any generation by relocating to the UK, make una stop deceiving yourselves. The streets of the UK are littered with wayward Nigerian young men born in the UK, in gangs, dying and going in and out of jail.
And the streets of Nigeria are not full of such things abi? Jus dey play.

Invest in Nigeria sharp-sharp.
Nigeria is my home.
There is nowhere that I would feel more free and comfortable than home.

I can't have #30m then decide to be doing cleaning jobs and other petty jobs for white men just to proof a point, never!

Don't know what is so special about the UK (home of our former colonial masters)huh

*There’s no one-size-fits-all answer — it depends on whether you’re buying stability or buying upside.*

Let’s break it down with ₦30m as of May 2026:

*Option 1: Relocate to the UK with ₦30m*
*What ₦30m gets you:* Roughly £15,000-£18,000 at current rates. That’s barely enough for a UK skilled worker visa route — you’d need a job offer with a licensed sponsor first, and that money would cover initial accommodation, visa fees, NHS surcharge, and 2-3 months living expenses for a small family.

*The upside:*
- *Stability & safety*: Predictable power, healthcare, education, rule of law. No generator, no kidnapping risk, no sudden policy flip-flops.
- *Long-term residency path*: If you secure a job and meet requirements, you can get ILR after 5 years, then citizenship.
- *Currency & income*: You earn in pounds. Even at minimum wage, £2,000/month is ~₦4m, which stretches further than ₦4m in Nigeria right now due to inflation.

*The downside:*
- *₦30m doesn’t go far in the UK*. You’re starting from zero — no house, no car, probably renting. It takes 3-5 years to really settle financially.
- *No guarantee of success*: If you don’t land a good job, that ₦30m burns out fast and you’re stuck.

*Option 2: Stay in Nigeria and invest ₦30m*
*What ₦30m can do here:*
- *Real estate*: You can buy 2-3 plots in growing areas of Lagos, Abuja, or Port Harcourt, or build 2-3 units for rental income.
- *Business*: Start a logistics company, agro-processing, fintech agency banking, or import-export with decent scale. Monthly returns of 5-15% are possible if you know the space.
- *Diversified portfolio*: Split between treasury bills at ∼18-20%, money market funds, USD assets, and a small business for hedging against naira depreciation.

*The upside:*
- *Higher potential returns*: A successful ₦30m business in Nigeria can generate ₦3m-₦5m/month within 2-3 years. That’s hard to do in the UK at the start.
- *You’re already plugged in*: You understand the market, culture, and network. That’s an asset you don’t have in the UK on day one.

*The downside:*
- *Risk & volatility*: Power, insecurity, FX fluctuation, policy uncertainty. Your ₦30m can lose 40% value in a year if the naira tanks again.
- *Opportunity cost*: If you’re in a sector with no infrastructure or constant government interference, growth is frustrating.

*The Real Question You Should Ask Yourself*
- *If your goal is safety, education for kids, healthcare, peace of mind* → UK wins, even if you take a financial step back for 5 years.
- *If your goal is wealth creation and you have a solid business plan + network* → Stay in Nigeria and invest. The risk is higher but the reward ceiling is higher too.
- *Hybrid option*: Some people use ₦20m to invest here for cashflow, and ₦10m as relocation buffer for later if things go south.

*One more thing*: ₦30m isn’t enough to “japa” comfortably to the UK and not work. It’s enough to relocate _if_ you already have a job lined up. If you don’t, you’ll be forced into low-wage jobs just to survive.

*Bottom line*: Choose UK for quality of life and certainty. Choose Nigeria for wealth-building and control — if you can stomach the risk.

What’s your current situation — do you already have a UK job offer or a business idea in Nigeria? That changes the answer a lot.
You are good.

Well done, you did a nice analysis that almost reflect real life scenario for both side, I was just smiling while reading cool

Tinubu and APC did Nigeria a very terrible thing and yet some people want him to continue, to do what if he continues? Maybe to finish the remaining Nigerians na angry

Sometimes, I ask why most businessmen stay back in this country. There's a reason behind it. If you have a strong business idea with structure, it will be better to stay and grow something

30m is not enough to relocate to the UK as of now. Unless the 30m you're speaking of isn't in naira.

I don't know what you are doing and how long it takes you to save the N30 but if you are sure of a genuine entry and a care job already waiting for you in the UK, I advise you embrace it fast. Go quickly and do not waste time.
You can save the N30m back in 2 years, and that is amist several other benefits of living overseas.

Re: Would You Rather Travel To UK With 30 Million Or Invest In Nigeira? by Beeron:
Sadly lots of people are really contemplating this question and don't mind selling their landed property or house to japa.

Yes, Nigeria is challenging and dysfunctional as a system because it's a failed state. Nigeria is a place for 2 set people. Rich and poor, It's either you are rich in Nigeria or you are poor, the middle class has since been removed from the system because, when you rich in Nigeria, you would keep getting rich and when you poor in Nigeria, you will stay poor.

So people with aspirations to find that middle man status with stability are the once that sell off their property and japa.

Yes, You can make money in Nigeria (especially when you already have money) but only if you are smart enough to understand investment and investment strategy that fits you.

Nigeria isn't a place to succeed in physical business and start ups innovation, the system will frustrate you, the tax man will frustrate your effort, lack of infrastructure and basic amenities will slow your growth, staff will steal from you, clients will frustrate you with debt.

Such money can be well invested in Nigeria stocks, Nigeria bond, U.S derivatives plus MMF. Then keep your job and reap the benefits of your investment.

You will only have insecurity and poor infrastructure and lack or power to battle.

I will use the money to travel to the UK....30 million is not as huge as you think... forget all this one some people are saying that UK is hard, it's still far better than here...I know a lot of close friends there and they are never going to come back and live in this country again
Re: Would You Rather Travel To UK With 30 Million Or Invest In Nigeira? by Rockyfancino(m): 6:47am On May 06
It depends on what you want to invest in.
Going abroad also depends on what you have under your belt already, unless you want to go the school route and get something under your belt, but then it’ll take a period of consistent hardwork to gain decent footing in the uk.

Personally, I believe one should try to build a parallel life home and abroad. Personally, I would have liked Nigeria better but these days I prefer saner clime. But I’ll try to also make the money I can make in Nigeria before things falls even more apart here. If things doesn’t improve over the years here, I’ll sell what I have and continue staying abroad.

There are no straight ways to it. Weigh your options and pick the best.

What investment do u wish to do in Nigeria? Do you understand it, what ROI do you wish to get? Don’t forget the effects of exchange rate.

On the other hand, what do you stand to get/become on getting to the UK? Check and compare the options.
OP, go with this and do not reach out to anybody asking you to call or message them either on phone or WhatsApp.

P.S: I've be in both shoes and frankly speaking I'd rather go on vacation rather than stay over.
